Bex is an idiot if she can't figure out how to gauze wrap her arm.
Spoilered as I get a bit spergy about Becca's self-harming.
This. And also there's two camps of self-harmers. Those who know they have mental issues, shouldn't be doing it to themselves, have a rather deep level of shame and will hide it from everyone - loved ones, colleagues etc. They definitely wouldn't Tweet about it, wouldn't hesitate to throw on long-sleeve tops and would be mortified if someone noticed.
Then there's group two who want the attention, will show it off and desperately want people to ask about it. They may use a story (cat scratches, burn from cooking or whatever) but want those sympathetic "oh no, poor you" reactions.
The second group is usually teens but Becca falls in to it. Adults can still self-harm but it's rarer and by their 30s should be pros at dealing with the medical side of wound care and hiding it. The majority who started in their teens will 'grow out of it' or get help and develop more normal coping strategies when life gets shitty.
Although she purely wants sympathy and to show Daniel & Co how much they've hurt her, she probably also deludes herself in to thinking she's 'raising awareness' and 'removing stigma' around self-harm. IMO, that 'stigma' is actually important and pushes people towards recovery.
It's one of countless ways she's actually the abuser. I have no doubt cutting herself is manipulation and control. 'Better tread carefully around her or she'll slice herself up in the bathroom then blame me for it on Twitter'.
