In theory Libertarianism shouldn't be Right or Left leaning as it calls for as weak of a state as possible, if not totally nonexistent. It can appeal to anyone that wants a very weak or no government. This is why the Libertarian Party in the USA has power struggles between different factions conservative and liberal factions who advocate for different cultural beliefs.

Libertarianism in 21st century America basically amounts to "GOP if smoke weed". May or may not be okay with gay people. May overlap with Neoconfederate* politics as well.
