I'm no lawyer but it sounds like even if he somehow wins the appeal it would probably result in a reduction of the penalty amount at best. The lion's share which is Billy's legal fees would still be paid, so the cost of paying a lawyer for appeal would more than likely outprice any reduction he would get.

I think Karl finally realizes the shit he's in now that appealing is off the table. I'm hoping for a divorce/troon saga but I also think it's possible he just disappears for good as his life completely unravels.
