I wish I possessed your unbridled optimism. The instant Ottawa realized that they owed Alberta money, they would quickly remove that clause. In America, Maryland passed a law removing the statute of limitations on suing for child sexual abuse. This law was intended to break the Catholic Church in Maryland, and it did. However, it was discovered that Maryland would be sued for billions of dollars in damages as well- so the state amended the law to limit their liability. This amendment was passed and signed in two days. I see no reason why Ottawa would act differently. They also may also spitefully demand money before allowing Alberta to leave- assuming they don't just say "lmao no" and send in the army (or whatever passes for it these days).the feds would, according to their own laws, be required to pay us hundreds of billions of dollars when we leave.
