Mass Effect Andromeda: Shitstorm Edition - RIP Biowear

Have a pet theory: Women are ugly in the game as a "Shattering the sexist belief that not all women are beautiful" statement

I thought that was a conspiracy theory from /v/ irgins at first but the more footage I see the less sure I get. All the male characters have chiseled features but the females are all inexplicably ugly, not merely average as one would expect the average human to be but seriously ugly as if Bioware went out of their way to make it so.

1) It should not take a game 10+ hours to hook you. Even an RPG. Witcher 3 hooked me from 10 minutes in. If I'm not engaged I will stop playing after an hour or two, let alone 10. Writing quality also tends not to get better either or it becomes incredibly uneven, which is still bad.

This exact problem hit Inquisition. After a fairly good intro mission, they dumped you into the generic-as-hell Hinterlands, where you could easily spend 20 boring hours advancing the story not a jot or a tittle. I don't know when they lost the ability to create engaging opening acts.

Eye contact is fucking easy to control, sadly the way they implemented it makes everyone look like they're avoiding looking at each other and simply graze their eyes. One way they could of made compelling eye contact is if the eyes had some sort of lock on system, just basically draw a straight line from one eye to the other.

Also there is a reason why this new Mass Effect looks fucking deplorable, it's made by the support team for Mass Effect, they have never had a full release of a game.

  • Bioware Edmonton are what we know as "Bioware" they made the Mass Effect Trilogy, KOTOR, Dragon Age etc.
  • Bioware Montreal are a "support" studio for Edmonton. They made Mass Effect Andromeda. Andromeda is their first and only full release.
  • Almost no one who worked on the original ME trilogy is worked on Andromeda meaning Andromeda and it was effectively made by the Bioware "B-team".
  • Just seen lots of people complaining about "Bioware" in general in regards to the negative response to Andromeda. The main studios last game was Inquisition which was actually quite good.

Why the heck would they give a highly anticipated AAA release to a bunch of diversity hires at a satellite studio that's never released a game before?

According to rumors circulating /v/, because EA saw the writing on the wall and is planning to shit this thing out to kill Bioware off.

It's part of the EA cycle, you see.

No idea, but I just don't have the patience anymore to wait any more than a few hours (depending on the game, sometimes you know right away) to grab me.

And from what I have seen I do not have faith they can grab me even after 10 hours.

Another theory is that Bioware is working on a new I.P, but it's pretty risky.

Let me see how this will go: the first game will be amazing, the second slightly off but still pretty good and the third will burn the IP to the ground.

I mean, its possible. But EA is short sighted, making this for as cheap as possible and milk it with micro transactions. They could have hired a better team to reinvigorate the franchise and just have the B team work on the Multiplayer aspects. That would have been more expensive.

Maybe EA thought the franchise and studio were unrecoverable after the debacle of the third game and decided to scuttle everything and just get as much as they could out of it.

Or they are really fucking cheap and thought they could get away with a AAA title done by the B team after all the expensive talent left. Since they figured gamers/Bioware fans would buy whatever they shit out. No scuttling involved, just plain old greed which they may or may not fuck them (this is the most likely option).

I think it's probably that the limitations of the character creator just happen to favour male facial features. Blocky, square jaws are fine for guys, not so much for girls.
As much as Bioware like to shoehorn in progressive story elements, they know damn fine that a not insignificant portion of their fanbase just want to create waifu-sheps/ryders and have hot lesbian alien space sex.

When it comes down to it, lets not kid ourselves here guys, this game's going to sell gangbusters regardless of quality. Forums will explode, articles will be written, youtubers will rant, but it's going to net EA a shit ton of cash. They handed it off to a b-team cos it's a guaranteed sell no matter who makes it.

Hell, it may even be the case that the whole single player game is being used as a Trojan horse just to get the cash-cow multiplayer in as many homes a possible.

Another theory is that Bioware is working on a new I.P, but it's pretty risky.

They announced it a long time ago, right after Mass Effect 3. They even released a few live action teasers for it, it was called ''You've been chosen'', or maybe that was just the tagline. Then we never heard of it again. I thought it was dead, but maybe the Edmonton Bioware team is working on it, while the rookies at Montreal were tasked with ME:A. That seems to be the cause of the problems rather than some conspiracy involving SJWs.

But what could have possibly gone wrong. I mean, this is EA, they could set up a portion of the budget for literally burning the cash for heating and it'll--

Oh. Right.

I know it's been said before but jeeze it seriously looks like they animated this game in Garry's Mod.

Hah, that's an insult to Garry's Mod. Gmod content makers have been making good stuff for years and have gotten really good at it by now; so much so that slapstick off the wall stuff like this objectively looks better than anything we've seen from Andromeda:
