A curious point Trump made in the EO was pointing out that the services PBS and NPR were created for are kinda now covered by things such as YouTube
your not wrong there, I'd say make PBS non political, period. don't even report on news outside of like, world changing shit like elections and what not. I will admit, my older parents do love Americans test kitchen on PBS though..

Way too hot - I could add Tallahassee or Blacksburg VA to the list but I cba relative to the others
iirc Tallahassee (and most of the panhandle) is the worst of Florida bog?
down in the dick of the state you get pretty solid breezes from the ocean on both sides keeping things manageable

Dude, you can feel this article's author seething through the damn screen. The Finance Minister was asked a question, gave a response, and this dipfuck is acting like he just threatened to shoot Trump in the head.

The option to unload those treasuries exist as a bluff. They're not going to fuck over their main deterrent(the USA) against the Chinks. It really is shitty how badly financial articles have been for the past years.

The problem is that Trump’s order is based on 47 U.S.C. 396(f)(3), which states that the CPB can’t contribute or support any political party or candidate for office.

Where the hell is any proof that PBS or NPR are part of a political party?

Is NPR biased? Yes, their journalists are left-wing and their articles are critical of conservatives. But the law does not say that the CPB can’t fund a biased news organization, only that it can’t support a political party or candidate.
That’s not true. The order is based on the fact that the CPB board is appointed by the Executive Branch, thus controlled by the Executive Branch. The reason why the CPB board would withhold funds doesn’t actually matter because the president has sole authority over the executive branch and directing the CPB board to withhold funds from NPR and PBS is not otherwise unlawful.

The argument to be made against the order is either:

1. The CPB board is not a part of the Executive Branch

OR

2. The order to withhold funding from NPR and PBS stations is unlawful.

Actual Floridian here - state is currently in the worst drought in eight years. It's been obscenely hot outside for some time now, we're not even close to summer yet. Most of the state is like this right now, and in general I'm not too fond of Florida anymore despite me living here most of my life. I'm in agreement it's too hot/humid, also I don't think it's very pleasant to look at given how flat it is and how dull a lot of it is starting to look.

What exactly is impounding and how is what Trump is doing not that when he says "do what I want or I cut the gibs" to the states/universities?
How is withholding federal funds the same as taking possession of something? If anything, that sounds like the opposite, no?

Regardless, our government is authorized to make federal funding contingent on institutions complying with federal law. If colleges want to make their own rules, they can crowdsource donations from a Go Fund Me, not taxpayer dollars.

Some people REALLY don’t want to decouple from China. I think history has debunked Kissinger’s theory and they can fuck themselves

I'm debating between living in one of five places:
- Minneapolis City (downtown), Minnesota
- Seattle City (downtown), Washington
- Urbana, Illinois
- Bloomington, Indiana
- Morgantown, West Virginia
Which would you all choose? I'm leaning towards Illinois, not too urban but not too rural
DO NOT MOVE TO ILLINOIS!
IT IS LITERALLY THE WORST STATE IN THE UNION!

THE WORST GOVERNMENT, POLICE, TAXES, ROADS, AND LAWS!
THE FOOD ISN'T EVEN GOOD ANYMORE. ALL THE LOCAL BUSINESSES DIED IN COIVD!
EVERYTHING IS GOYSLOP AND GOYINDUSTRY UNLESS YOU DRIVE INTO CHICAGO!
THERE ARE NO JOBS OUTSIDE OF MAJOR CITIES THAT PAY OVER $12K-$30K A YEAR, AND EVERY YEAR THERE IS LESS BUSINESS OPERATING IN IL!
NO ONE GOES OUTSIDE SINCE THEY EITHER GET SHOT BY NIGGERS OR LIVE IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWEHERE!
YOU WILL NOT FIND AN APARTMENT FOR UNDER $2,000 A MONTH, UNLESS IT WAS BUILT IN THE 70s (typically $1,800 a month) OR IN A NIGGERHIVE!

all of this is also true for any location where you have to specify (downtown)

lol, lmao even
The fact that the U.S. is the only force guaranteeing Japan's continued existence does also exist as a card.

Why are Placebos for testing a bad thing?

Didn't know measles could get defeated by the power of positive thinking.

Better joke: If taking a vaccine causes someone to fear for their health more then not taking a vaccine, which is probably a sentiment that is on the increase lately. Then shouldn't this be flipped upside down? A placebo works because it makes you feel good about yourself. Though I guess those types of people wouldn't be ones to sign up for vaccine guinea pig trials lol.

Although the CPB is a nonprofit corporation, not an agency or a department. The President does appoint the board members, but does that mean he has a say in its operations?

The CPB was explicitly designed to limit external influence on how it spends its money. That’s why previous attempts to defund PBS were done through Congress as they would control the funding of the CPB.
