One interesting thing I noted, Victorian Labor is horrible down in Victoria, and many expected the Liberals to make some gains in Melbourne.
Not only did Labor win more seats in Melbourne, currently the Coalition hold 0 seats in Melbourne.
ABC uses a retarded map so please excuse:

National seats are all regional (Gippsland, Mallee and Nicholls, expected), Liberal seats are all regional (Like Monash and Wannon) or at least semi rural, like Casey and La Trobe in the Dandenong Ranges or Flinders for the Mornington Peninsula.
Liberals even failed to gain back their heartland seats in affluent areas of Melbourne, like Kooyong and Goldstein.
Considering many were hopeful the Coalition would make gains in Melbourne, this just shows how much they failed. The only way the Liberals can even move forward and want to win a government again is to pivot away from the far right Queensland voter, to the more central voters in NSW and Victoria, that feel they have no option other then Labor.

They need to be less Teal (which are diet Greens) and modern day Liberal (which are diet One Nation), and actually go back to their roots as a more moderate right wing party.

The Liberals will only win if they can get their safe metropolitan seats back in places like Melbourne and Sydney, that have rejected the modern Liberals in favour of Teal Independents.
FYI the Liberals have currently won 0 seats in Metropolitan Melbourne (biggest city in Australia these days), and you think that they don't need to change?

To be honest, this should not be a surprise. Victoria is very left leaning, and even though the state government are about to get fucking melted in the next state election, majority of the people will still show loyalty to the federal cohort. What I'm more surprised, and happy with, is the sudden battleground in the Melbourne seat.

The rank and file in a few battleground areas have been pleasantly surprised with the turnout, at this stage. But the night is still young, I'd expect a few more flips before it's over.

While this is true and I didn't expect Libs to win a majority, failing to win seats in traditionally right wing areas of Victoria like Aston (Outer Eastern Melbourne, few remaining areas that's mostly White), Goldstein and Kooyong (Posh Cunts) just shows the state of the Liberals. They didn't even get close in most of them.

When they watch their kids get replaced at work by Indians, when every IT help desk is an Indian, when companies fully switch to offshore workers and graduate jobs become redundant, when you walk into the eastern surbus of sydney and not a signle person is white.

Definitely agree, just goes to show the mindset change that's occurred over in the eastern suburbs over the last 10 years. That also goes hand in hand to boomers dying, and children of immigrants taking their place. The one thing that is still an interesting anomaly is the post war Vietnamese immigrants still showing support for the Libs, while their children lean the other way.

There needs to be a lot of soul searching within the Federal Libs after this. Someone in their rank and file should have a connection with the people.
