I kind of hate seeing her older work. I do prefer the older art, it's just that it's a permanent reminder of a skill level she'll never care to achieve again. The real time degradation between drawing for fun and drawing for cooooom looks like she got some kind of traumatic brain injury.

I like how the placement of the strings indicates they're always going to be out of tune. Also, the nut is fucking wrong as hell

because only 3 of the strings go through it when on an actual guitar all 6 should be there (unless there are just less strings on the guitar itself, but clearly this isn't the case)

Giving your characters traits like clumsy, pathetic, trying sooper hard guys, is meant to be endearing to the audience. Autistics relate to it since they tend to be clumsier and actually trying (unlike Autumn) for the most part and wish that their failures could be taken as something they can still be loved for instead of mocked or chided, just like their animes. Autumn is a shitty writer who wrote no other character traits to Salem aside from "bratty with a T-boy smiling attitude" so it faceplants harder into the ground than most of the broken spined fat furries she draws.

Sounds like a five year old describing their character they made for the first time. Does she think this reference sheet is actually interesting? Nothing about it tells me anything about Salem. And if she's still sticking with the "Wolfjager brothers" being separate entities that used to be a God, this character is all over the place with its design and the world that Autumn has (barely) even made. As for the anatomy, it's still ass. The broken elbows, spine, and the weird small wings that are too high up on her shoulders/back. Her music taste is very basic.

I would also like to mention the horrendous abomination that are the pickups.

Why the fuck are they curved? That's not how pickups work. They look like Lace Sensors that someone bent for "muh toanz" or some retarded shit like that.

Idk what it is, but her art looks really "dirty" for lack of a better word lately. I think its more washed out colors plus shading with black, it seems like she used to use more vivid colors and shading. Her characters always look really grimy and unwashed as a result. The fact that theyre all morbidly obese and the randomly placed fur tufts that look like they have mange doesn't help. That grungy look can work for some art, but not really for the anime-style fat fur pinups she does, it really doesn't help them look any more appealing.

Also it's crazy that she used to be able to draw fur textures better even in the darkest puppychan days than now.

Okay, second everything said about how she seems to be shading with black or a very desaturated color; she used to be better about this, picking a shading color that was more saturated and matching the general palette of the specific piece, but lazy retard gonna lazy retard. Maybe it's fitting, Salem looks like a dirty unwashed hambeast and this dingy shading enhances that.

Two pet peeves:

She's always done this and it drives me INSANE every goddamn picture. Autumn is very much a 'rely on extra details to hide basic lack of structural understanding' artist, and this is a good example. Those stupid little extra lines suggest a hard edge. They'd make sense if her tail had a rectangular cross section, or if it was a flat ribbon. They could MAYBE be excused if her tail was reptilian and had a dorsal ridge, though theyd still be drawn wrong to show that. They don't belong on a tube-shaped object like this tail. Salem has the anatomy of a badly printed Chinesium anime figurine.

Also:

Jesus christ it's shit like this that makes me constantly assume she's cribbing poses from other, better artists. This vaguely passed for foreshortening in the lineart, even if the angle was a little janky, but then she shades it and it becomes REALLY clear she doesn't know what the fuck is actually happening when it comes to the 3d object in space. I couldn't even tell you how this arm is supposedly posed or shaped based on that shading, because I'm pretty sure it's breaking the laws of physics. It's one of the most explicitly broken bits of anatomy she's drawn in ages so I guess it's a good thing she makes a new ref sheet for no reason every three months because this is incredibly jarringly wrong.
If you're going to copy better artists, can you at least do it well?

I know people always say this about janky anatomy, but that arm quite literally looks broken. It's completely going in the wrong direction. Somehow despite being more detailed and shaded, her art has degraded again since the Furaffinity days. Remember when people said theres no way the FA could be pup because the art technique was too good? She's going back to pumping out goon material again. This has been said a lot but god her oldest art before she lost brain cells to the goon was literally the most appealing and charming art she'd ever made. A lot of artists really need to realize that more detail/realism does NOT always mean better.

Ok this is stupid. But it's driving me fucking crazy.

I'm a fat little short fuck IRL. Shorter than Salem is supposed to be. Our proportions do NOT work like that. It's so clear to me that the refs are from much taller (and thinner) characters/people, because nothing at all flags to my mind that the character is 5'3". You don't just take an average/tall body... Draw it the same... And say they're short. Our femurs are shorter. Our torsos are shorter. We carry fat differently as a result of literally having less body to pack it onto. Salem's got Lizzo (5'10") proportions, when it should be far more like fat Melissa McCarthy (5'2") proportions.

Salem has gotten taller-looking, over time. When you draw a person who is skinny, you can draw them a little stubbier to show their height without sacrificing the overall look. The reality of it is, when you're short and fat, there's a point at which things begin to look a lot less elegant and a fair bit more Michelin Man. So clearly, as Salem has gotten fatter, Salem has also gotten taller so that the overall "not too awkwardly compact, not too many rolls" look can be maintained. A 5'3" person of that mass would have rolls. They might even be bordering on "wider than they are tall". And I'm not even necessarily judging for that, is the thing! I don't give a shit if somebody's a fat sack! Me too, motherfucker! But god damn, at least draw them accurately if you're going to insist on making them fat and short???

Absent all of the other shit to talk about here which everyone else has already done, this just chafes my nuts something fierce. If you're so preoccupied with representing ReAl PeOpLe in your work, draw an actual fat short person, and not just a regular-tall person who you SAY is short. Use a fucking reference from somebody with that body type, you doofus!!

One thing I noticed is that she always renders the references sheets of her characters, when the right thing to do would be only do the flat colors so anyone who draws the character can colorpick the colors, but Pup doesn't do that and it bothers me
