Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 - Final Fantasy/Persona inspired FRPG

I wish the game marked the locations you completed. With the amount of backtracking, its kinda hard to keep up which locations I already visited and which I did not.
Also wish the game had presets for equipped Pictos and Luminas. Some fights require certain builds and at my point of the game there are so damn many of them that it takes 2x the time to set up.

The game doesn't apply a name to any location you don't enter. I've been using that and just noting the 2 areas I couldn't complete to track it all, but I feel like with the amount of areas I've now unlocked this strategy may fail me. But at least I have a plan.

Side note: A lot of merchants have slots in their inventory reserved by "Find another expeditioner". I thought that would resolve itself once I got Monoco seeing as he's the last, but there's still tons of merchants not selling their full inventory. Does that message mean something else?

Put in 20 hours. Just got monoco. I hate how there is no map for the inside of stages. I want to mark the sidebosses I can't handle at the moment as well as to make sure I went through every route in the map. Sometimes I go through the same place 3 times to doublecheck the sideroutes. Also I wish they would add level suggestions to the various side-zones so I know when I can go back to clear them. Backtracking takes too long to be comfortable.

I love the character building though. The way different weapons, pictos, spells, special effects and characters interact let's you do a bunch of different builds. Especially the stupid ones like the suicide pictos in combination with other on-death effects and spells that synergize with crit chance. You don't just have one guy pump heals while the others spam their strongest attacks. (parries are hilariously OP though, and no damage taken, and a bonus AP so you never have to basic attack, AND a powerful counter attack? Unless you're really underleveled you can beat anything once you get the rhythm down)

I got him. I strugged a bit and it was hard but holy fuck he's dead. Couldn't have taken more than an hour. Verso's attack with the delayed move did 90k damage in total. The only problem I had was his combo in phase 2, I'd always fuck up the final hit causing Verso's move to fail. I can see how you have a problem with this because you literally have to parry about 100 times in order to kill him ALONG with making sure you're doing enough damage. A good amount of hard bosses boil down to parrying as much as you can and this is again probably because of the fact that I'm vastly underleveled fighting these hard fights.
VENGENCE!!
I wanted to post the whole fight, but fuck me, it's like 7m long.

Did it on the 4th try.
I still got one shot on a weapon swing, but at least this time, I brought more firepower, like clip below.

The fact that I got a level 20 picto means I did this a lot earlier then intended.

I think I'm going to hold off on doing some harder fights for the time being and actually progress the damn story. It's going to be hard but I'm gonna restrain myself for a bit so I have more tools to strategize with
I get it.
After some gruesome life and death battles, with your balls sweating, against some side bosses, going to first Axios island was a walk in the park. I did it mostly with the benchwarmer team (Maelle and Monoco)

True.
I make screenshots with Steam overlay, with places of interest I want to visit and whatnot, and once I do, I delete the screenshot.

Those are for

Yeah, it's one of the best things about it.
You have such a huge list and so many combinations, I end up spending hours just fiddling with them, adding favorites, dropping favorites, and switching and trying out.

Edit: Fuck it, I'm actually proud of the fight, so I'll post the entire thing.

Yeah I just went in with some of my shittier party members for the harder Axon area to the East (Sirene) and cleared out every side boss/the main boss first try. It's a shame too because there were a lot of unique mechanics that I just completely sidestepped because every single party member (minus monoco) can do 30-40k damage in a move with proper setup.

One thing I would've liked is that there were more journals of the same expeditions. Them first arriving and trying to figure out their plan, their ace in the hole breaking down, them losing members are they push deeper, them starting to realize they won't be the ones that can make it to the end and instead have to try and prepare the way for the next expedition, and finally the last member desperately trying to commit as much information as possible to paper to pass onto the next generation. I love coming across the various expeditions and their seeing what kind of strategy they had to try and win. Or reading the desperate notes of expeditions that ran aground and realized they were going to die. Or keeping track of the number on the flags and seeing a number you were trailing suddenly get replaced by another number.
Yeah, it's one of the best things about it.

They're pretty generous with skill reset items but it can still feel a bit intimidating to burn through a few of them to find a new build. Right now I have a decent setup where lune nukes everything with fire, maelle breaks debuffs their armor and sciele hits everyone thats burning (fiery connect I think it's called?). 90% of the time I can more easily just retry a fight until I get the timings down on parries, than rip everything out and redo my talents.

Just in case, in the area where you beat the hammer nigger, behind a house, there's another picto.
"Rejuvenating Revive"
Yeah as soon as I find an auto revive picto or something like that I'm turning one of my party members into a suicide bomber. With all of the pictos I have right now you could get every single buff, 4AP, and 3 shields, as soon as one party member dies. Something that breaks the damage cap would be great too for the suicide damage.

One of the path of exile 2 streamers I follow played this game today and called it one of the best games he's ever played. Really strange (in a good way) to see this game getting universal love from people from many types of gaming tastes. Cracked 145K today on steam, another new record. The only major group that seems unable to like it are the deepest of chuds turned off by the intro.

Also fuck
Clea
Worst boss in the game

Felt like the game was dropping inputs.

Finally got rid of my ancient PS4 controller and bought an Xbox Elite 2 controller and am now a god at parrying. The extra grip triggers are perfect for mapping to parry.

Yeah, there's a group of unhinged weirdos, that scream woke and shit their pants whenever a nigger or a woman is on the screen.
The inability to understand nuance and glaring forced diversity, is a strong indicator of crippling autism.
It was the same with BG3, where they bitched about some fags or niggers, ignoring the fact you can literally disintegrate them, chop them into tiny pieces of meat or flush them down a hellish toilet. This in contrast with true woke garbage like Dragon Age, where said fags and niggers where protected from the players actions.
Autists don't understand the difference, never will so it's easier to put shit in their mouth and make gurgling noises.

Bro, after finishing the Axios island, I realized I'm a fucking mentally disabled retard.
So many good pictos and some good weapons, that could've made life easier on some Chromatic bosses, but noooooo, I had to go through long sessions of CBT.
Well, on the good side, I got gud, real gud.

And on a side note, I used to think Lightning Storm (from Lune) was dogshit after an initial try, but now, I've learned the error of my ways. Once multi hits become the norm, that skill is bonkers.
Best part about it, you break twice as many shields on hit, since it's an extra hit added on top.
Oh, and I'm still trying to figure out and make Verso's End Bringer skill work. I have a feeling it's OP, but I can't seem to set it up.

So if you don't have Monoco in your party for bosses, do you just miss out on the potential foot from them for the rest of the game?

Kinda makes me not want to play him along with the fact the wheel isn't that interesting of a mechanic.

It's just like Blue Mage from FFV, which is my shit. I havent found any major bosses that have a BLU spell you can steal, but the side bosses (which usually have another one in a later area) do so it's always better to just have him in the main party at all times and turn him into a tank that gives shields to everyone else.

It's fantastic, you HAVE to git good at dodging/parrying to get anything out of it. Another good strat would be to build a TON of speed on Verso so you can minimise the amount of turns that you have to dodge/parry.

I don't think any are missable. Most bosses show up again in the endless tower and the grosse tete in the flying manor is respawnable.

Finished it
Holy fuck are both endings bittersweet in the most gutpunch ways. Somehow outdoes both Nier games in my opinion, though not quite "Hannas Departure" from Lost Oddyssey level. I do love how they wove in the theme of mortality from both sides. Seeing Gustave again was fuckin FEELS man.

Shoot out the cristals ezpz
Edit i'm retarded that the face one. He ass raped me
He's talking about a Chromatic Midget in Visages.

I've been using Monoco alot, because I decided to clean the trash with the B team, so they all even in levels, and I am enjoying his random bullshit.
Also, I found The Perfect Gamba item for his Wheel which turns it into a Roulette.

I don't think we're on the same page :)
Verso has a skill, called End Bringer, for 9 AP, which in Rank A, re-applies Stun. I think you're talking about Steeled Spike or whatever, the one with 1 turn delay.

Oh, and since I evened all their levels, here's my squad. I didn't find that many wardrobe options that look better then the default ones.

Came back and beat that fucker from Frozen Hearts first try thanks to shielding death. Adding 3 shields on death is absolutely busted and Lune had like 9 shield stacks by the end of the fight.

Here's a pic of the party. I genuinely don't know what to put on Sciel so I just dedicated myself to making her have the ugliest outfit in the game. I'm really hoping there are more outfits for Monoco.
