The real bad one is Nintendo, who has recently flipped in the same way. They always had Treehouse and various pozzed as localizers, but they're now actively targeting any animu games that might glorify het*rosexuality.
I feel that might be overselling it a bit, but I definitely agree with the notion that NoA is in
desperate need of a shot in the arm. NoA's been pretty much a shadow of their former selves
ever since the infamous Wii Music showing at E3 2008. Their stream crashing during the Switch 2 Direct was pretty much the straw that broke the camel's back/canary in the coalmine that something is definitely wrong over there.
They used to be able to put out some pretty kino ads that helped drive Nintendo's success in the US early on, and into the 90s and 2000s. Now? NoA has pretty much lost a lot of that spark they once hard, and have only coasted by because they exist as the US arm of a far more successful company.
Between the FE:Fates stuff from 2016 and the things that happened last year, the general vibe I'm getting is that NoA wants Nintendo be like a lot of the other global-homo companies, but can't push too hard because NCL has a tight leash around them (And in the case of both instances, that leesh loosened a bit because NCL was too busy preparing their next system). Especially now that Trump and his administration are trying hard to kill globalhomo, starting at the government level.
Nintendo actually closed their 2nd US office in California a few years ago, forcing all employees to either quit, or relocate to Washington where their main office is. Whether NoA's problems are theirs to blame, or if they are simply a symptom of the problems with American companies at large, I'll let you decide. And speaking as someone who followed the culture wars for half a decade, things could be a
lot worse.
All in all,
Make Nintendo of America Great Again.
