A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

Imagine how fucked Bradford is right now. They will be having the riot police gearing up as we speak. Same for leicester and London.
Little bit of cross posting from the India vs Pakistan thread.

But seriously it's probably about to get really messy in certain areas, namely the above. Some parts of England have become massive hot spots for one or the other and often both.

Jeets-Pakis just went hot bros it's 100% a PROPER WAAAAAAGH now, bradistan predictions?
Assuming they don't just do some lame shit restricted to the border, this seems like a rather easy India win (though that might incentivise Pakistan to use their nukes) assuming no other powers get involved, which I hope they don't.

If this escalates and becomes WW3 I'm going to be rather annoyed.

India is more valuable than Pakistan for most of the world, and Indians themselves occupy more influential positions in companies and governments in other countries. Pakistanis are only a great source of ire for the people of the UK because there's a ton of them here; they're a non-entity otherwise to a lot of other people (kind of like how Turks aren't as big a deal here as they are in Germany, or Algerians in France) and they're not really all that relevant on the world stage. I think Americans are only aware Pakistanis are all due to osmosis from UK news stories about them raping our kids, and the fact they were hiding Osama, but I digress. India has a larger army, larger navy, larger air force, higher population, more allies, better economy. more nuclear bombs. But you could say the same of Russia too, and they didn't stomp Ukraine like they should have, in theory.

Even though India fired missiles first, the narrative being pushed by them is that the terrorist attack that caused all this to kick off was sponsored by the Pakistani government, which will likely be parroted by other nations. It's not like this hasn't been used as a justification before either (*cough* America *cough*) and so it'll be ultimately agreed upon that Pakistan actually struck first thus justifying this conflict to the powers who end up supporting India.

Pakistan might find itself largely alone with no major backing outside of China, whose interests in undermining India are more economical than anything else. They may see material support from other Muslim countries, which gets to them through Iran, especially if this war gets viewed as a 'Muslim vs Non-Muslim' conflict. I could see them getting more volunteers from the Muslim world than Ukraine got from the Western world, but I don't think they'd reach Ukraine's level of financial and material support. Bizarrely, despite suffering mass rapes and murders at their hands less than 80 years ago, which got so bad India fought a war to liberate them, Bangladesh is kind of buck-broken in their relationship to Pakistan since they're apparently fond of them, prioritising faith over history. Meanwhile, Afghanistan is still sore over the Durand line from over a hundred years ago.Pakistan of course has the 'we were just defending ourselves' defence though to this barrage to justify retaliation and other countries supporting them, and will continue to deny any involvement in the terrorist attack (which they could be telling the truth on) so they might do a few bombings back as to not appear weak (if they do them at all). A true escalation depends on how India responds to Pakistan's response, if there's any at all.

Hot war, nukes used: Both sides get hurt badly, but India will still ultimately win (and the resulting refugees become everyone else's problem).
Hot war, no nukes: India will still ultimately win, but if Pakistan gets support through and from Iran and maybe China, it'd possibly draw it out into a multi-year conflict (ditto on refugees).

For the sake of editing (because I learned my lesson), in my post about the India trade deal I trimmed my theory that it might indicate who the government will side with if this escalated into a full blown war. Couple the deal with the recent proposed restriction on Pakistani visas, and it's a no-brainer who our government might support, but I think the government would drag their feet on proclaiming said support for as long as possible though.

What the Pakistanis here will do if the government does though, I'm not certain, but I argued in a prior post that it could be a catalyst for the formation of a Muslim/Pakistani party composed of Labour MPs and Independents. Regardless, similar to India's response to the attack triggering a few little clashes here and there, a full on war might provoke a lot of 'demonstrations' and 'protests' I.E. riots, especially now the weather's nice. The Indians and Pakistanis will bring the war to our streets, whilst areas with large Muslim populations might hold demonstrations and whatnot — expect the media to have no clue on who to support. The only positive to this is that it might bolster Reform/Right-wing support depending on how fiery they get, especially if the government supporting India might be viewed as an invitation to do a terrorism or two.

Anecdote: "I hope they all kill each other," my dad, upon receiving this news.

TLDR: I think countries will avoid taking sides for as long as possible but I think the default will be India. India would probably win a full scale conflict, with or without nukes - it's yet to be seen if the war will go fully hot or if the "nothing happens" crowd will win. It all depends on if Pakistan actually responds in any meaningful way, and if India matches that response. Pakis in the UK will be angry if the government supports India. Potential clashes on the streets between Pakis and Indians might be inevitable, regardless of whether this becomes a truly hot war or not.

Yes the timing of that pindia deal could not possibly have been better, they'll umm and ahhh it to the maxxx but they've got no choice but to ultimately back the jeets; our brownoids are majority paki, this is an absolute wonder of an own goal by gaybour, it'll be gaza all over again x9001. Combined with the Reform surge?
Muzzie/Galloway style Popular Front before the end of the year I reckon, if this doesn't magically go away this will kill gaybour.

I mean let's be realistic. They don't send riot police for anything involving non whites. They handle them with kid gloves and let them burn shit down.
Normally I would concur, this time will be different though, they won't be having a little fiery but mostly peaceful rioting; they will be going out to fucking kill each other. Shit shall be spicy.

What the fuck is even happening a cross party unilateral rejection. THE FUCKING DEMS AGREED WITH REFORM!!! I don't even know what the fuck is happening, it feels like a fever dream.
Reform and Lib Dems both shared similar sentiments regarding the nationalisation of British steel, and the Conservatives and Lib Dems shared sentiments about the tariffs ("Buy British", etcetera). We saw a similar rejection and criticism of the governing party decisions prior, it just happened under the Conservatives so it made sense that Labour, SNP and Lib Dems would just outright reject every proposal. It's just surreal now since the Lib Dems are in the mix, so you have a party regarded as Left-wing by most opposing a Left-wing government alongside the Right-wing opposition parties. It's not particularly unusual. The Lib Dems have marketed themselves as the 'safer' pick for change as opposed to Reform, which requires them to disagree with every decision made by the party in charge.

I am honestly flabbergasted by how retarded Starmer is. This is one of the biggest boons you could hand Farage and Davey. By the way he did not not even clear this through the fucking Home Office or the Treasury which the court warned him about after the Chagus deal

In other news, Lords BTFO'd Reeves' removal of subsidies on the farms. Along with Labour MPs calling out the farming inheritance tax. I have a feeling the news cycle this week is going to be insane.

This is one of the biggest boons you could hand Farage and Davey.
I've been seeing a lot of national politics defined as Farage/Davey and that puts a smile on my face.

No difference from Starmer then. It's just endless limping from one crisis to the other.

  • One frontbencher currently has an international arrest warrant for war crimes.
  • Bleeding support nationally, just lost a major by-election and almost all councils up to be defended.
  • Boat black numbers up.
  • War in Eastern Europe.
  • An unpredictable White House.
  • The changing federalisation of Europe to which we've (thankfully) already missed.
  • A sinking economy and the Jewish woman you personally picked to fix it lied to you about her abilities yet you can't get rid of her yet otherwise it looks like you made the wrong decision.
  • Chunks of the country currently sitting on rivers of rubbish and rats.
  • The slow death of the monarchy and total loss of faith and growth of apathy across every demographic.
  • Lots of ugly men keep demanding he says they don't have penises and can legally shit in close proximity to women.

And now, two very smelly countries are launching very smelly explosives at one another's very smelly buildings. No wonder Keith isn't enjoying his job very much.

So I genuinely want to know what the average British person gains from this "historic" trade deal with the pajeets?

Lower tariffs on Indian cars and clothes? What's the fucking point if pajeets are more favourable for higher due to NI tax breaks?

Is Keir genuinely retarded, have a huge brown cock up his ass, or simply hates British people?

Special rates on British locomotives sold to India. Modi wants to use them as population control for the non-Hindus

Lol @ Starmer. Kashmir is the equivalent of Palestine to Pakistani Mohammed enjoying Labour supporting postal vote fraud enthusiasts.

His trade deal with India has not only fucked over British workers but also a large number of Labour Party members who like to stick there nose in on this one.

Just in case you’re wondering, I’m Team India in this conflict and hoping they do the needful.

If it stops with just India and Pakistan in smouldering vitrified ruins though, that’d be fabulous.
The trade deal - I’m speechless. They really hate us.
That and worse, they're too retarded by a country mile to even begin to understand why they are so despised. Keir Hardie and The Jarrow Marchers would be fucking disgusted at the absolute botched abortion that Labour now is.
