You can, but at that stage of the game, your damage and effects on Free Aim are low. You'll also be AP deprived and end up turning the encounter into a slog.
You get better mileage out of counter attacks.

Greedfall had a similar reaction from retards. Brown people in a fantasy world? Unplayable. Greedfall at least managed to make both sides mad because the "colonists" weren't portrayed as literally Satan.

The complaints are even harder to understand with this game. So every black character in the game dies (and I don't think they even came back in the ending cutscene), there's no gay or tranny shit, there's nothing overtly shitting on Christianity (someone mentioned a discussion about faith but I either missed what they had or interpreted the one between Sciel and Verso totally differently), and there's a plot point that Sciel loses her husband and baby and it fucks her up. What is the issue exactly, other than the massive dent in their head?

All that said I wouldn't be surprised to see the devs make a second game and immediately go full retard, not because of anything in the game currently but just because it's the way it goes. I'll remain cautiously optimistic until that happens. At the very least someone hire the guy they picked up off a fucking forum to do some more OST work. Dude did an amazing job and it reminds me a lot of Nier (intentional based on his interview) and Phantom Dust both of which have similar plot points to this game as well.

To me, it's themes revolve around grief, loss, self-sacrifice and familial bonds. It focuses on those and doesn't go into retard territory.

The best part is the dance lesson. It teaches you to parry the danceuses and it will help against the Chromatic version from Old Lumiere, because that bitch has 7-8 hit combos.

Near the end of act 2 (I think). Is going above 9999 damage sidequest related or story related? Enemies are getting very tanky. Also need to grind money for a picto that might be missable.

The only issue is that combat is getting stale by now. The battle plan is pretty much the same for a while now, which is a shame.

The first day I spent a few hours against the chromatic abbest at level 5

Shooting it's weak spot did 9999 damage, and after learning the sound cue it was just endurance at that point, did miss once and Gustave ate shit but I revived him. You really have to do parries for counter damage and getting full AP and the overcharge every turn, which is after the sheep goes 4-5 times.
I wish I knew Maelle was only 15 minutes away, would've just grabbed her after the 5th retry to make it faster.

Holy shit you're insane for doing that fight for FOURTY TWO FUCKING MINUTES STRAIGHT. Congrats for sticking it out that long, I was in a similar situation with a side boss in Act 3 but decided to just reload a save when I saw just how damn long it'd take.

Speaking of Act 3, I really do love that Act 3 is literally just for side content and that's it. I'm glad there's so much shit to do when the game finally opens up and the damage cap remover is effectively free. Some of these bosses have a ridiculous amount of health though and I guess from here on the name of the game is pumping Verso, Lune, and Maelle with so many damage pictos that they're shitting out hundreds of thousands of damage a hit.

Personally I quite like the female characters. They're actually decent people and don't talk like retards that got their brain poisoned by california. No random rant how they're poor wahman that got oppressed by the evil men and needed to fuck a 100 niggers in order to find out she is a strong and independent woman. That is what gets me. That every female character needs to have this moment in which she states she's totally not insecure about herself and powerful and worthy and the patriarchy held her back. You have something similar with villains, any time one of them has a reasonable reason for doing things, they also shoot a kid in the face just to make sure you don't agree with them.

End of A2, you get Painted Power, a picto for 5p, that makes you go over 9999.
As for combat getting stale, I don't know, because I have no idea where you are in game, what difficulty and what you've done so far.
But I will tell you this.
Some later bosses are designed differently, and you can't just drop damage on their head and be done with. You'll have to dance to their particular gimmick, which can be fun or tedious, depending on how you approach it.

You can tell when you're under level for a zone, when the mobs or bosses take more turns before you.
Their speed stat is simply way higher then yours and it's reflected in turns.
