Assuming that the same Sven is the one whose art I'm seeing when I google him, I'm sure that Tokyo is really gonna dig it.


I'll be honest, I think his art sucks, even the stuff I can find that isn't just deliberately edgy and provocative. Also, pretending that people should be excited because you're making a business move, years after you alienated them, seems like a waste of breath. And, I don't know why you'd call Stoffels' art cute, none of it really seems cute, and any of it that isn't a picture of a Nintendo character reminds me more of cartoons in the 90's where it was intentionally grotesque.

PS: The sample pages could have come from any of the mainstream comics that CG is supposedly against - vapid dialogues, inane name-droppings, political messages delivered with the subtlety of a pickax between your eyes, and ugly. There is this poor understanding that simply trying to copy the art style of manga (and by extension anime, see the recent Lord of the Rings anime) is going to appeal to Japan. Marvel tried to do that, and failed pretty badly at it. Indie comics often try to do that and fail. I don't even know if Adam Warren could appeal to Japan with his Dirty Pair or Empowered comics.
