Death Stranding - Hideous Kojumbo does it again

Yoji Shinkawa, I have nearly completely forgotten his name. he's one of those talented artists that stands out from other work of concept art that I'm amazed that he hasn't split from Kojima's massive ego, even then he chose to work with him I just have no clue why he wants to deal with him.
It's a shame, out of all the things that Kojima steals he stole the most from him, including the Cyborg Ninja if anyone knows about how he was included in the story using a preexisting character.

I Feel that Metal Gear Solid is one big happy accident.

I've always been a huge admirer of Yoji as he's been a huge influence growing up with drawing. I've felt he's been just spinning his tires in the mud with Kojima. But I get his sense of loyality.

That's actually a good idea, no wonder Koji hated it.
My only question is how they're going to handle Eva's ah... introduction, given the cheesy graphics of the time really helped sell Snake's expression.
She's a faker anyway her tits are literally fake if you check out her stats in the menu lol.

its not like artsy games are bad per se. dysco elyseum is one of my favorite games ever. its just that kojima isnt a good enough writer to tackle the themes he want to cover. seeing the trailer he is on is mgs4 bitch mode and will overcompensate the fight sequences and adding even more retardation.

This is the thing about auteurs: their best work is either when they're being wrangled, or early career where funding/being forced to work with others is causing them to occasionally recall that their vision must remain accessible to outsiders.

You could spin it politely and say it's like an oyster needing irritation to make a pearl, but it's mostly about having people who are aware of the real world, and editors.
 
There's a big part of loyalty involved. I don't think he would have gotten this far in the video game industry with his style.
His signature design work with ink, heavy shadows and dynamic poses, while aesthetically pleasing, are near useless to a 3D team.

Working with Kojima gets him assistants and juniors artists to do 'boring' clean up on his front, side, 3/4 views etc.
Shinkawa & Chihoko Uchiyama got the best gig going as far as concept art goes. Kojima offers them the opportunity to do whatever the fuck they feel like.
Shi Kai Wang, the concept artist for characters for Halo 1 - Reach did a kind of similar style, though more detailed. They're good for getting the "feel" of the character more than the little details.
