You are correct, this is the probable outcome. And, nobody of any substance or authority with the developed world gives a single iota of a shit about this, because they know this is the case too. One or both of these countries getting glassed in any capacity is a net gain for the planet. You can argue a million different ways from putting a slight damper on the mountains of pollution these countries make, or something as blatantly racist as "I hate Indians". The beauty is that in this case, everyone is correct for once.

If an Iranian fighter jet flew over my city and bombed it before the pilot had to bail out from the jet and parachuted down and I found him wounded on the ground like in the video I would try and do all I could to render the man aid and get him to medical help.

I'm not so much worked up (if you want to see worked up go check out the Palestine-Israel war thread ) more very concerned. For nearly 100 years the nuclear Pandora's box has never been opened. And when it was used in a conflict, it was seen as "just a big bomb lmao". My concern isn't so much that the Russians or the Chinese or NATO or Israel will start bombing shit (even on their own territory) to prove how stronk and tough they are, its if shit hole countries get the bomb (which they are trying- for christs sake if Iran can do it anyone can do it), And suddenly EVERYTHING becomes a show of force. Even though chemical weapons are banned, Saddam used them on the Kurds, assad on his own people, and Iran (and Iraq) have used them against each other. These things are norms that you shouldn't use. Look, I am not for nuclear disarmament (christ I think nuclear war is winnable), and I believe it is the only thing that has stopped major powers from shooting at each other, but to open this box over what essentially is a bullshit local ethinic/religous conflict is absolutely insane. Remember India got its nukes in the 1970s to make sure that if there was a WW3, neither the soviet union nor the Chinese or NATO would get any funny ideas or because India's famous non-aligned status meant that no one would come save them if they got invaded (remember that while India got its nukes in 1974 it was developing them since 1962 (when it lost a war against china) and there was a genuine fear that India sandwiched between Pakistan on bothsides (remember up until 1971 banglidesh was part of Pakistan and known as East Pakistan) and maoist china in the north internally India did (and to some degree still does) had major communist movements which threaten its un-aligned status (south africa also got it for the same-ish reasons but they also were terrified that because of aparthide and south Africa managed to piss off both the US/Europe AND the soviet union and that no one would come to their help watch this about south Africa and nukes). Pakistan got its nukes because India had nukes. It is really important to realize that all nuclear weapons are costly to build and very expensive to maintain and very expensive to deploy. Just having lone nuclear weapons is useless because the fissionable material will degrade over time (thus reducing the power and "cleanliness" of the destination) and if you can't get it where it needs to go then it's just a very expensive radioactive paperweight. Sure you can do what North Korea plans to do and pull a Cod 4 on an invading nation, but you aren't north Korea.



The issue with nuclear weapons, which does affect us, is when that radiation leaves the indian subcontinent and makes its way to Southeast Asia or Australia or Japan. It will poison fish and food stocks, and will fuck over a lot. Honestly if you really want to push TJD we should make sure both sides have chemical weapons.


Basically Pakistan and India shouldn't have nukes but instead tons and tons of Chemical weapons.

Pretty much no one is alive today who remembers Hiroshima and Nagasaki. People have forgotten the ramifications of what detonating a nuclear weapon entails. This same erosion of collective memory is why people call others "Nazi" without grasping what that means because no one alive today remembers what that REALLY means. India getting a Fat Man of its own dumped on it just might be the best case scenario to remind the entire rest of the world for the next 60 years why nuclear attacks are a terrible thing, and it will cost all of us exactly nothing to witness that.

So yes, I'm with you that ideally no one should use these weapons, however in this specific scenario we're kind of in a best case where everyone else who does have these weapons will get a sobering glimpse into what will happen to them if they press the red button too.
