He did confront the judge either on the way out of or in the hall outside the courtroom, but the elevator thing was an accidental embellishment that ended up getting repeated a lot and made it look even worse than it was.

Incidentally, it was about something that he should have brought up in court when it mattered (the judge appeared to be basing the sentence on the perp being represented by counsel which was an incredibly improper thing to say), not like a little bitch after it was too late and the judge had already thrown the book at his client.

I think the most likely explanation for his sleep problems are Adderall related.
Stress (bodycam related or otherwise) would obviously be a factor too
Also when you stop drinking booze it can fuck up your sleep.
So basically there's a whole lot going on.
