why the fuck does the white family have a black nanny?
Because the drive to fulfill the social expectation of "not being racist" overpowers the drive to protect themselves and their family. There are many such cases.
This clip went "viral" back in 2017 (as viral as black-on-white violence is ever allowed to go)
There was a news story that gave the mother's name: Annemarie Theron

So I found her facebook and had a look around - because I too was curious what kind of idiot lets a black woman care for their child.
Annemarie was born in Zimbabwe in 1985. That's just five years after the end of the civil war, when Rhodesia ceased to exist and became Zimbabwe. It's right in the middle of Mugabe's communist-style purge which killed as many as 80,000 people:

Afterwards, Zimbabwe famously speed-ran the descent into shit-hole status - the ultimate fate of any nation run by sub-saharans, but Zimbabwe elevated it to a meme by printing money in denominations of hundreds of trillions!
At some point, she and her husband GTFO and move to Namibia. From what I can tell, they both worked for a company that did africa-style tourism stuff - safaris and shit like that.
It was in Namibia that her baby was abused.
The kid survived without permanent injury as far as I can tell, so that's good.
The babysitter was sentenced to 4.5 years in prison.
The Theron family later moved ... [checks notes] back to Zimbabwe?? Looks like that's where they are now. The only political posts I found on their facebook were two stories about famers being mistreated in Zimbabwe.
They seem to have a large extended family in Africa, so that goes a long way toward explaining their decision to stick it out in the area. We should also keep in mind that if they posted anything overtly racist (or, after what they've been through, we might as well say, "overtly truthful") they'd probably get arrested.
What they're *not* doing is posting virtue signals - like the father of Austin Metcalf did.
My conclusion is: they're trying to survive and maybe even stay under the radar in a bad situation. They made one stupid decision and paid the price for it. Hopefully they can stick close to the extended family and protect themselves going forward.
