Unpopular Opinions about Video Games

I played 3 and 4, and they blur together in my mind as basically being the same game. What I really have in mind are these modern infinite-mode PvE or PvP games where you play the same few maps (or procgen environments) over and over, slaughtering mooks, filling bars, and unlocking cosmetics. I can't deny they're addictive, as I have hundreds of hours in Darktide, Deep Rock Galactic and Helldivers II, yet I somehow feel like Timesplitters: Future Perfect was more of a game than any of them.

stellar blade fucking sucked and there is no way in hell that game should cost 70 fucking dollars a year after its console debut
b-b-but my boob and bunda gook model!
well, that's what i can gather from it outside slopsouls combat, it's coming to pc so that means nudemods and shieet, not that i care that much, i played black desert so i'm immune to gookery safe horny shit.
It's time to not only remaster Darkwatch for current consoles, but also to give us a proper sequel.
why would darkwatch be remastered? it has big breasted women in it (even for like a few cutscenes) so it's not coming back, ever, even if one of the voice actresses is a dyke, can't risk the new generations seeing sexy women with unrealistic booba proportions (even though you can find women with the same booba proportions IRL), same reason timesplitters has low chances of being remade.

because it plays like a movie? it tries to keep you engaged with the story and it has jokes? liek this one:

Dominions is the best 4X series it is criminal that trash like Civilizations and Stellaris are pushed to the forefront when Dominions offers more than both of those games combined. This is an opinion, but also a service announcement to all those that enjoy 4X games give Dominions a try.

This is a nice theory and all, but again, ALL controllers and ALL arcade games have movement controls on the left.
I already pointed out the Atari 2600 joystick. Some arcade games like Centipede and Tempest use the right hand for movement. A lot of older ones are ambidextrous:

Playing Xeno Crisis like that would scramble my brains though.

I'm not going to play a single game on and off for a year.
It sounds like such a miserable, unsatisfying way to experience a game. I build up the muscle memory and skill as I progress through the game and then mostly forget it when I move on to something else - that used to be the whole damn concept of a single-player game.
I like doing that. I don't usually like playing one game regularly for weeks.

But do you like trying to get back into a game that you haven't played in a long time for only a small bit of additional gameplay? That's like seeing a movie only to have the director release a new scene months later - it's not going to anything close to the impact that it would've in the context of the film and I'll probably spend the entire thing trying to recall what the fuck is happening.

Mirror’s Edge Catalyst is a 120 IQ game destroyed by bad writing and a greedy AF publisher that got neg rated by 90 IQ gamers and 60 IQ journalists.
As a fan of the first one, I somehow wasn't let down by the sequel. I didn't care about the plot in either of them. The graphics are wonderful and they got Solar Fields to do the music again. I spent a lot of time just exploring and taking lots of screenshots.

The fact that this game has never gotten a next gen remaster or a RTX patch is criminal neglect.

The graphics difference between PS4 and max settings on PC is night and fucking day.

the 5th generation of consoles are looked at frequently with rose-tinted glasses, their was just as much slopware and crying as there is today, the only thing that was really better was Games-as-a Service bullshit not existing, had the Internet been as big as it is today their would have been mostly the same issues back then as there is today
Nobody would ever know how much slopware there was to be until the generation after it. Licensed games up the ass and it only worsened in the 7th generation. I mean the Wii console is known for some its blockbuster hits, but it is also known for having most of the shovelware and the accessories included to it ever.

The game sure was. I've played plenty of hard platformers, they just need to actually feel good.

Maybe there'd be crying about my beloved N64 or Saturn, but PS1 is one of the best consoles of all time, so nobody can really bitch about that.

It does not suck, it is a 7/10 but by modern standards it's a 9.5/10 at least.

It sounds like such a miserable, unsatisfying way to experience a game. I build up the muscle memory and skill as I progress through the game and then mostly forget it when I move on to something else - that used to be the whole damn concept of a single-player game. If I tried to come back months later, I'm going to think "Oh God, how does this all work again? What was happening in the story?" and probably end up having to restart anyway.

It's why I always wait for the Definitive Ultimate Director's Cut version of a game before I even bother playing these days.
You're right, but I usually don't have the patience or attention span to sit through one single-player game at a time anymore. Sometimes a special game will grab me, but I've been chipping away at Tokyo Xanadu off and on for a couple years now.

Open world games are still popular because instead of designing a streamlined, tight campaign, they make you spend hours just traveling from one enemy base to another and sloooowly uncovering the map (AKA "the Ubisoft model"). Even games like Mirror's Edge, which is only about 6h, has an open world sequel.

Don't get me wrong, I can still have fun with a game like Far Cry 6 despite the fact I beat all of them except Primal, but the only memorable thing about 4, 5 and 6 is the ever-changing setting.
I didn't bother with Far Cry 6 because it looked cringey as fuck. I have every FC game except the first one and 6.

FC6 isn't bad gameplay wise, story wise it's trash, full blown garbage and you have to pick who you'd like to kill less than all of the characters to be the new big boss, esposito's character is hardly used because i think ubisoft miscalculated his cost.
What distinguishes the two?
the amount of fart sniffers, artfags has way more and they usually tend to exude a wet grass smell too.

I should've also said that they can't in the same way visual art, literature, or even movies are thought of as art. There are just too many variables when it comes to video games. For example, someone either appreciates a painting or they don't when they look at it. Now let's say five random people decide to play Bioshock, a great game that a lot of people consider "art", they might not fully appreciate the game for reasons that are specific to video games. Someone who plays it on a $200 laptop at 17 FPS won't have the same experience as someone playing it on the newest hardware or on a console. What if they play the original version or the remaster? Will they think the bonus content adds to the experience because there's more stuff to do, or do they think it's a lazy inclusion that detracts from the linear experience? What if they have a higher/lower tolerance for bugs than the average person? What if they think having to edit configuration files or having to install a community-made patch to make the game work ruins any chance of them thinking the game is a masterpeice no matter how good everyone else says it is? Will difficuly options described along the lines of "This is how the game is meant to be played" affect what they think of it if they think said difficulty is too hard or easy? Even though they played the same critically acclaimed game, it was a good time for someone, and was a waste of storage space for someone else.

Shitty games aren't new. Even the 8 bit and 16 bit era had shitty games. It's just Millennials and younger Gen X that like to pretend that they didn't. They were cranking out shitty movie tie in games back then. I know because I had some of them. There was plenty of good games but also a lot of shitty ones. The PS1 and N64 were no different.

If you want to see loads of shitty shovelware just go look at the games for the Nintendo handhelds. Especially the DS and 3DS. They got hit hard with shitty games.

We need a Dark Watch remaster with a PC port this time. I had that game on the original Xbox in the late 2000's and what little I did play it was fun.

It's fine. I skipped all the cutscenes because I don't care about the plot in most games and especially not in an Ubisoft shooter. It has a few fun weapons. I liked the Com.Pew.Ter shotgun because it ragdolls enemies pretty hard. Gameplay wise it's nothing new, so if you played any FC after FC2, then you know what to expect.
