@Scarlett Johansson can’t seem to quote you with the usual tricks, but The Trouble with Angels is definitely good.

I remember this had Christina Ricci in it, I liked her a lot back then.

The 90s Freaky Friday remake was also good. And I swear they made a Shaggy Dog remake with Tim Allen.

You remembered correctly. Came out in the mid 2000s, around the same time as Chicken Little

Haven't watched it and if I had to suffer seeing this poster and you all are too.

That’s not even the worst poster for that abomination

I've been trying to avoid the remake as much as possible because it's too painful. I'm trying to pretend it doesn't exist.

It’s so different that it’s just not Lilo and Stitch. I’m probably going to end up seeing it anyway at some point down the road for reasons out of my control, but the anticipation is more akin to getting a root canal than curiosity, let alone excitement.

So, that's why that character didn't show up in the trailer. You know the producers suck that they changed the story and the message of the original because they couldn't, wouldn't or weren't willing to have the villain show up, thus corrupting the OG work's message, kek. Stitch will also be less destructive here because special effects are expensive RL it seems. Total fail.
Good thing they haven't corrupted The Hunchback of Notre Dame... Yet.
I fear what will happen once they do, hopefully Disney is long dead by then, or Walt Disney comes back from the dead to wipe out the director board.

It’s been forever since I’ve watched the original, but isn’t that “new subplot” with Nani just another spit in the face? She had to give up her dreams of being a pro surfer to raise Lilo after their parents died, and was trying her damndest to provide for her. That’s part of the message about family. But nope, now some new randos take care of Lilo while Nani fucks off to college.

This is why David is such a good boyfriend, he's patient and has a desire to help despite Nani saying she's got it covered because she doesn't want to be a burden, and he can deal with Lilo's eccentricities. Bet there's none of that in this film because Nani's independence is the law of the land now.

the villain
the thing about the OG L&S, as @Kari Kamiya said earlier, is that there are no out-and-out villains.

Captain Gantu? Just trying to do his job keeping the Galactic Federation safe from an, to all outside appearances, irredeemable monster.

Cobra Bubbles? Ditto, only his job is to watch out for Lilo's well being.

Hell, even Jumba, after seeing how profoundly the Pelekais have affected Stitch, agrees to help him rescue Lilo from Gantu:

Doug Walker said it best:

The irony is, they almost made Stitch a "villain" by accident.
They dropped this because it was "too dark," but the scene was supposed to both show Stitch the consequences of destruction, and get Lilo to face her grief. While there is something to be said about recognizing fate exists, Pudge is based on an Hawaiian rain god that turned into a triggerfish to escape Pele. It also shows more about Lilo as a person. We get to know her parents' names, that she sees their deaths as her fault, and that she has the holistic, "world-reading" mentality you see sometimes. It's not exclusive to Hawaiian culture but be that as it may. However, the fact that it's more salt in the wound for Lilo, and it shows sadism on Stitch's part, would make people hate him. So I can see why they'd cut this.

But let's just drop all nuance so Nani can girlboss in college. Let her leave her last remaining family member behind, so she can become a debt slave in a state where people struggle to make ends meet as is.

That was from a series of remakes done for ABC in the mid 1990s (and reran occasionally on Disney Channel up to the early 2000s). Also remember a Shaggy Dog with Scott Weinger in Tommy Kirk’s role and a That Darn Cat from that same time period. This was right before the theatrical remakes like Lindsay Lohan’s Parent Trap and Robin Williams’s Absent Minded Professor Flubber.

Edit: the That Darn Cat remake was also a late 90s theatrical remake; the other ABC remakes were Escape to Witch Mountain and Freaky Friday

Still mad at the ending of the TV remake to "The Barefoot Executive" where they stick the chimp at a wildlife sanctuary. Lazy writing.

And yet I wish we had an expanded version of this...

I know, which in retrospect made him more interesting... Until the TV series ruined him, that is.

Quite funny how ALL woke-related stuff inevitably has college appear at some point, as if it was the only thing these bastards know.
The Tiny Toons remake was quite egregious by making clear teenagers into young adults to have the college excuse... And then have them act like teenagers anyway.
As for Disney, I wish we got that "Epic Donald" game that was teased at some point, but it's doubtful it will happen with current Disney: Any woketard staff would cry to cancel it as Donald used to be (and still is) a "problematic character".
Thankfully Disney comics are quite good even now, especially the Italian ones.

Or, it could have been another flop.
This is yet another thing I hate about modern media, but, rather conveniently, the excellent retro-gaming YouTuber Majuuular explained it much better than I could in his recent video about TekWar:

New social worker lady is played by Nani's original actress Tia Carrere, so at least they kind of got her involved.

Now that I think about it Daviegh Chase disappeared. The Ring, L&S, and Spirited Away were extremely well recieved (SA is literally an Oscar winning masterpiece) but last I heard she had been involved in a fight with her boyfriend outside of his house (his mother is EG Daly from Rugrats and Peewee movie).

I was chatting with one of my friends earlier, and the topic of Disney adults came up for some reason.

My friend told me, "Weeaboos walked so that Disney Adults could run," and I haven't stopped giggling for the past 5 minutes.

THERE WAS AN EPIC DONALD IN THE WORKS?!

I hate this goddamn company so much bro, this could've been AWESOME. *sigh*

Son of a ...

Donald is my favorite of the classic Disney characters-- he's always been better than Mickey. I would have totally played this game.

You know its funny, Disney has always done whatever it could to distance themselves from or reduce the involvement of their properties and video games. But if they invested more into games, either from cancelled ideas or past IPs what more could they lose? Their movie lineups and streaming media are flops, bombs or underperformers. They have managed to make people completely apathetic to Pixar, Marvel and Star Wars and have done fuck all with Fox and their properties (which they shouldn't own but thats another story.) At this point if they tried to cultivate an environment to ensure fun games get made, it might even get more people on their side.

Funny thing is that they did make videogames and such, especially by the 90s and early 00s... Then they stopped and didn't do much anymore except the odd title once in a blue moon, probably due to a change in mentality.

While she's not wrong, at least we're not being actively hated on by anime itself while Disney properties actively go out of its way to say "Stop breathing and die, whitey". :^D
