In the Buddhist point of view, everything that happens to you is your fault. Even things outside of your control are the result of previously seeded bad karma that became active via affliction. And guess what, you are in control of your afflictions.

I would say at least over half of Buddhists believe that women can't become enlightened until they are reborn as a man. But there are sects that believe that the only requirement is to be born human and not a specific sex. Monks can interpret texts differently depending on the branch. Overall women always have more rules applied to them, especially at the monastic level. I'd love to see Anisa take on a belief system that explicitly makes her accountable for her actions. Maybe she'd realize what she does isn't isolated to just her, or her husband, or even the band or weirdos they're trying to be apart of. And that she does has a choice whether those bad things happen or not!
