Watanabe said that the dub was how he always envisioned the characters and story. The voices in the dub are inextricably tied to the characters themselves. Funny enough, the other one I can say that about is another Watanabe show, Space Dandy. The dub and sub are basically two different shows, so one is not better than the other.
