Sweet Baby Inc. and the Steam Curator Group Conspiracy - The company that is responsible for the diarrheic video game writing.

That's likely cancelled as well, with Jade Raymond leaving the studio and a notable lack of anything being shown of it since the trailer was released.
I guess her services are no longer useful/required.

Ghost of Yotei, maybe. A game with a female protagonist played by a real life extreme Lefty gender special doesn't inspire much confidence in the final product.
You do not hear about it very often right now. Did they get spooked by all the woke failures such as AC: Shadows, Concord etc as well as the future failures such as Fairgame$ and Marathon. They must be bracing themselves for impact.

There's also VTM Bloodlines 2 that the publisher just wants to be done and over with.
The Quantic Dream Star Wars Eclipse game that was announced with basically every popular adjective in gaming as a descriptor that's nowhere to be seen.
Knights of the Old Republic remake that had an internal demo so bad the development team was fired and replaced with another studio and nothing has been said since. The first thing the original studio did was post job listings for writers, the main writing was already done.
Beyond Good and Evil 2... lol this isn't going to fucking happen
Witcher IV is probably going to be a dumpster fire
Prince of Persia Sands of Time is probably going to be a shit show if it ever happens
Mass Effect 5... if Bioware doesn't get shut down first
Fable marketed with that ugly female player character thing with a man jaw
Perfect Dark is another piece of vaporware with a massive budget likely to be trash if it ever appears

Remember that time a woman got on the news to complain about guys ERPing in GTA Online? That woman was going to be the writer for the KOTOR remake.

jfc, I had forgotten about that. It's not as if the game won't need writers. Adding in some more dialogue options and NPCs and such. But a lead writer is NOT the first thing you need to be hiring, and especially a moron like that.

I forgot 2 more games. Wolverine and Spiderman 3 both have budgets over $300 million at this point(SM3 as of 2023 when was apparently already up to 385 based on the big leak from Insomniac)

These budgets to be spending on game development are fucking insane, but at least Insomniac has a history of actually beating their break-even numbers most of the time so they probably won't be flops even if they are covered in wokeslop because at least the gameplay will be interesting enough for customers.

What are the current to-be-released AAA DEI almost-certain-to-fail games? Only Druckmann's "Bald Blasian in Space" Heretic game and Bungie's Marathon come to mind at the moment.
Borderlands 4

To be clear, I expect Borderlands 4 might do okay numbers, but I expect it to "fall short of expectations".

Fairgames --they dropped the $ gimmick at some point, presumably because it was fucking stupid-- had a privately distributed pre-alpha that went so bad it's being cited as the reason Jade Raymond jumped ship.

The people who got to play it, (under NDA,) described it as a battle royale crossed with an extraction shooter and apparently it feels like absolute shit to play.

I think the only gameplay we've been shown since it was announced in 2020 is this:
As expected, the writing is cringe, the gameplay looks so scripted I doubt it's even real and generally nothing about it suggests it'll be anything other than another generic FPS.

Which makes it all the more hilarious when you remember that Perfect Dark was Microsoft's first "AAAA video game" they started on in 2018, so 6 years to get to the state in that video. Even during the slow motion slide sequence at 2:40 they have to skip from shooting the guy in the middle, to immediately kicking the guy on the left while the one in the right just disappears from existence during the cut, followed by another cut to a different location(during the slide along the ground, the fruit on the right was against a wall) turning right to shoot at two other enemies still in slow motion. Then at 2:50 the enemies just stand there posing(the one on the right I guess just teleported) for 4 seconds(great reaction time) while the main character does another leg takedown of the first enemy so they can be shot.

The question I have about Borderlands 4 is if 2K is retarded enough to force another round of EGS exclusivity. I don't have any interest in the game and I don't care either way, but at times I wonder if forcing exclusivity is a way of deflecting below expectations sales figures onto that instead of the garbage writing and the gradual enshittification of the Borderlands formula. It's not entirely incorrect but it gives an out that wouldn't be there if it was on Steam day one.

I think it's actually the opposite of that. It's 2K knowing the game has a big enough fanbase that despite the grumbling of some it'll still sell well enough that they'll overall make even more money taking Epic's cheque.

What remains to be seen is if there's more or less hype for Borderlands 4 than there was for 3. I was really looking forward to 3 --for the gameplay, not the dogshit writing-- and I walked away extremely disappointed that the game had done so little to evolve from 2, even axing some of the QoL features the Pre-Sequel added like double-jumping (which I'm certain was Randy's decision because that game was made by a satellite studio and he was jealous).

Having said that, it feels like every other major FPS IP is self-immolating right now so Gearbox could probably walk it home simply by putting out more of the same Borderlands content.

I presume that many of those are undergoing rewrites. Save what can be saved and shit. The budgets are going to balloon.

Even if that were the case, they'll still end up shit because at the end of the day most big budget games that do poorly, do so because they're bad games rather than just the writing and LGBTQRSTUVWYZ characters. That's why I left out Spiderman 3 and Wolverine initially, as those games will likely do well even with their absurd budgets because people actually like the gameplay in Insomniac Spiderman games.

Yeah, they will not re-write everything but they will remove the "right-wing bad" and "orange man bad". They will keep the gay characters but I am willing to bet that some stuff will change.

Not so fast! Yes, they are from a big studio BUT that studio has been known to go overbudget and it has lost a good amount of good will. Success has not been guaranteed.

Sure, but they can re-write everything if they want and it won't matter if the gameplay is shit at the end of the day.

Being a big studio has nothing to do with it. They've had successes while going massively over budget in the past and having the rainbow flag shit in their games, because what matters to the general public is the gameplay. It doesn't guarantee success of course, but it's also not a likely disaster that'll end up being a 200+ million dollar loss like damn near every big game release of 2024-2025.

Of course the gameplay will be shit. No argument there.

It will not be a big disaster but it does not need to be. A failure like Spiderman 2 where they spent too much money and had to share with Disney would be enough. Combine that with the fact that other games will have bigger failures and you get death by a thousand shotgun blasts.

Did you not see the slide above? Where are you getting that Spiderman 2 was a failure? It wasn't a massive success, but far from a failure.
