Man I don't know if it's me but this guy is more physically disturbing than the hole is. This is my armchair psychologist assessment. Let us start with Ian. As we know now confirmed, Ian was an incel pre Anisa. We also know that Ians dad was/is in jail and that he was raised by his mother.
Lets think childhood, that sounds extremely unstable for any child and I believe the lack of father and the mother dating someone who ends up in jail pretty clearly indicates to me Ian would have dealt with emotional abuse of some kind. I think this lack of support mixed with the difficulties of (What I suspect and will make a case for) Autism fostered what I believe looks like ‘covert narcissism’ which is a term to describe a specific subtype of narcissist. Covert narcissism – also known as vulnerable narcissism – refers to a form of narcissistic personality characterized by hidden grandiosity, insecurity, and a defensive, self-centered coping style. (Grandiose narcissists - which are the big bravado types can become covert and vice versa depending on their circumstances. However I feel Ian has always been a covert despite the rise and fall of his YouTube prominence)
Ian has shown that non-scripted content he is extremely awkward and ridged, not really understanding whats expected of him. He also has shown special interests (Squirrels for example) so I think we can all agree he has autism.
What does being a CN mean in terms of Ian I hear you asking big dog. Well its characterized by deep self-consciousness and highly sensitive to rejection. Constantly needing the approval of others to affirm themselves (This need is both pervasive and pathological.) and leads to depression, anxiety and feelings of inadequacy. As well as a very fragile self concept.
What better way to prove your own dysfunctional mind, parent(s) and peers you arent worthless than by doing a hecccin big own of the biggest clowns online. The majority of his hay-day content are him acting morally superior to people and shitting on them for it. And Ian also understands and desperately clings to the hiearchy and his relationship to it. No apologies for punching down tho!!). I will get to the current events after I discuss Anisa, then the intersect between the two.
Anisa for sure has BPD and I am sure I dont really need to go into much detail. Anisa has lied about so many things, continues to show her ignorance about so many topics and her constant copes are so transparent lets just jump to her shaping of Ian. A BPD believe or not is manageable, and after 2 years of therapy 60% are in ‘remission’ so to speak, up to 10 years 95% are in remission (Thats an approx, dont quote me go look it up) but it requires a partner that is able to create and maintain strong boundaries. Clearly on Ian had a large resistance to any sort of change early in their relationship as discussed by Anisa in discord snippets and stream. Ian likely has some degree of oppositional defiance disorder and would buck at the idea of changing.
So they meet, Anisa sees a meal ticket and starts manipulating, its shit manipulating but it doesnt need to be particularly good. Just continued and if someone is isolated and co-dependent on this person it will get to them. Ian has his first backlash at the onlyfans shit. He makes a video absolutely SEETHING and we see a some narc rage at him getting called out. He is desperately projecting the incel status as its one he is intimately aware of and would make fun of someone else for being in the predicament he is in if they were a content cop target or similar. Where can Ian go and who can support him? Theres only one person left and now with the fall of the titan he is even easier to manipulate. Get him into therapy but not the type that dismantles this sort of shit but instead gives you all these buzzwords so you can weaponize it and feel morally superior.
Ian appears to have very little to non-existent theory of mind. So anything he feels in his ‘shadow self’ (look it up) he projects onto his detractors because he needs to be angry at those aspects of himself as theres no other way he has been taught to address these feelings. So he lashes out and does all the things he blames and claims others are doing to him. (See Ethan).
In conclusion, he was always a little cunt. He was always seething shit wanted to appear superior and get praised for his quick wit and intellect but this was all a heat haze that covered his social awkwardness and bitch made DNA.
TLDR: Ian is a covert narc with heavy codependence on his BPD retard wife; His one-itus and lack of a stable home life and example means he will be forever stunlocked to her. I think this is a good overall assessment with the caveat that I don't think the current dynamic is going to stay stable for very long. I'm not sure what your parents exact situation is, but I'm assuming your dad more or less continued to make the same amount of money or more over time as when they met. Even as dismissive and venomous as Anisa's opinions on Ian are, they exist in a fantasy world vacuum where they both live very extravagant lives in trendy areas and she doesn't have to work but she can also pretend to work by being a co-host of a podcast that is a net negative profit-wise. The financial shelf life on all of that is expiring, and they're also becoming pariahs in the online world (which is the only world they truly know and care about) and so we may see some extreme fireworks in the short to medium term future.

Massive and insane projection. I still remember those first videos where Hila tried being less shy and more present in their content because she used to be just a camerawoman for Ethan. Ethan encouraged her to be herself and let go of her insecurities, which is what you want from a partner, and that allowed her to pursue her fashion interest which resulted in a moderately successful fashion brand. In fact, I think that one of their first videos together was one where they talked about the time they met. At the time I found it very corny, but now I find it very sweet from Hila to start opening up by talking about some of her fondest memories with her husband.
