How can you differentiate a user under 18 entirely all around the net? I suppose it'll have to be some facial scan to approve to just get past ISP level, with your entire background check and everything scanned and approved if over 18 constantly and tracked.
I don't know. Make it illegal for a kid to own a smart phone. If they're out in public with them they're confiscated and parents are fined. Aggressively police and report when minors are exposed as being minors online. Inverse pedo hunters. Giga fine social media companies that knowingly let minors post or join.

...but if you're deep in 9/11 lore, you'd know a surprisingly chunk of the fire department was too busy looting the Gap and other stores in the mall below the towers, to actually get their sh!t together & save office workers. Atlantic journalist William Langewiesche got raked over the coals/blacklisted after he wrote about said unfortunate fact in a book.
I never heard about this, fascinating. I have long suspected firefighting might attract people who want to be seen as heroes more than actually be them.

The only problem I have with this is that minors definitely need a way to electronically communicate in general (Specific context: I just think kids at large not being able to call home independently is fucked up. Consider a more ideal scenario where kids are back to being comfortable generally running around town on their own, it would be ideal for kids to have easy access to calling back home to their parents, and parents calling them, right?), but definitely not full Smartphones.

A proper legal delineation between old-type exclusively-phones (E.G. archetypal flipphones) and modern smartphones would be ideal for this kind of setup.

EDIT: typo, clarifications.

Agrees, just give kids "dumb phones" with basic phone calls, SMS and a GPS on it. Hell, make them government issued so literally all kids have them.

I don’t know how I feel about republicans wanting to go so hard on porn I feel that it’s a strategic misstep to go this hard this fast
It's a Republican politician's favorite type of issue: some salacious moral crusade they can grift and campaign on while they continue selling the country out to every corporate interest and foreign government.

Right, I wouldn't necessarily go entirely "government issued to every kid in America", as you said, but a more general program so families can access simplified and approved phones to maintain easy contact with their children would be ideal.

Well, as long as it's simple and kids aren't getting groomed or gooning all day, that's the important part.

How about parents fucking parent their kids? It's not that hard. Don't gorilla glue an iPad into the child's hands before they're a certain age. Solves every problem developmentally, societally, grammatically...

Good luck on that, like making kids in the day illegal to have access to modems to download it. Ridiculous.

AI's gonna take care of this all anyway soon, this is just counting angels dancing on a pinhead now.

God bless our homeschooling hero parents, but outside of that situation, this is a delusional goal. If your kid goes to any kind of school the other kids will make sure they get full exposure to the full gamut of Internet depravity.

I generally try to give them the benefit of the doubt, But of the 3 branches of first responders, every interaction with them I've ever had has left me feeling like "Dude... why are you such an entitled sounding dick?"

Which for me is more often than I would think is normal. I've had the unfortunate luck of being witness to, and first on the scene to give aid/call 911 at 2 separate accidents in the last year, AND the off peak day and time I go grocery shopping aligns with a couple engine house's shopping windows. So there's usually 2-3 crews wandering around the store. At one of these accidents, I literally got into a verbal altercation with the engine driver over the proximity of my car to the scene when they arrived, which was blocking traffic for my and the victim's safety.

My only interactions with them so far were back in college when kids would somehow fuck up cooking in the dorms and trigger an alarm. They always acted like it was some huge burden that they had to get deployed to a call. I get that it's a dumb type of call, but also, like, it's your job?

Even home schooling parents, unless they live literally on a farm an hour from other families, have their kids participate in extra curriculars (sports, arts, friendships) with both other home schoolers and normie kids. Home schooling helps but it's hardly a solution on its own.

He can't be serious right? America's hat would be California on steroids if it was a state. The sane country that kept Castros son for so long.
The people would be a burden, but the resources wouldn't. Seems to basically be how Trump looks at things, hence his willingness to import 120,000 H1Bs this year.

He's not.
I think he tweets these when he's shitting on the toilet and enjoys the power he has to drive the narrative for a few hours at least and watch people respond.
