I've been back in Arma 3 using johnnyboy's SOG AI mod. As far as mods go it's one of the best I've ever seen implemented.

Another game I've been sinking my time into is the Scourge Of War Remaster. If you are a fan of Napolenic warfare you won't find a better game IMO. It's truly one of a kind where you can play headquarters in the saddle mode being locked to the commander you chose to play as. You can only see as far as he would be able to see. All your orders are delivered via courier which takes time for the riders to deliever. Also the AI you aren't in command of is quite good so you don't have to worry about hectic micromanagment. It may not look like much graphically but the immersion is next to none.

Fuvk i forgot this was coming out.
Welp, there goes my money.

Some Russian fagot is ddosing arma reforger and has been for almost a week because there's a Ukraine war mod server. I hope he gets conscripted soon. On another note apparently the new AI in the next Reforger version is insanely good. they're also reworking the armory so less people sit at it and do nothing but play dress up

The AI shot down this guy in a chopper really fast.

Got so many kills last game in Reforger. On the Soviet side we hijacked an American humvee with an M2 and did a night raid with it. Held off a convoy attack on a costal base with nothing but infantry support. Picking off humvee gunners from 200-300m away is always satisfying

Journalists seem to be targeting Bohemia interactive creators of Arma for purchasing a newspaper because it allegedly posts materials that are pro Russian. However they mostly take issue with the papers anti tranny articles and covid 19 coverage.

Below is Bohemia's CEOs respone on X

Also someone is making a battlefield mod for arma reforger. So far on PC only. It's apparently very good

A teaser of the recreated Battlefield mode in Arma Reforger. The mode is at the stage of the first launch. Come play and taste the dynamic Arma!
Server name - PODPIVAS ArmaField At the moment it is only available for the PC version.

A little more information about server:
- The class system is like in battlefield;
- A progression system to unlock new weapons and modules;
- Redesigned interface to match the battlefield style;
- There is no inventory and no stamina limit;
- 3PP in vehicles and FPP in combat.

Seems like Arma reforger's huge new update is coming out today.

Mortars
LAV-25 and BRDM-2
Gunship variants of the Mi-8 and UH-1H helicopter
Building and Tree Destruction

A brand new singleplayer scenario makes you a US Special Forces soldier tasked with eliminating a high-ranking Soviet officer in the southern town of Régina near the Western Heights.

Expanded Vehicles

Overhauled systems to reduce people playing dress up at the armory among other things.

Been getting back into Squad and it's been a blast. Though maybe getting lucky with good SLs has been part of that.

Gonna try to practice squad leading at some point. I know the basics, though my problem has always been coordinating the squad.
A lot of my recent in-game time with Squad has been with a group. Sometimes I'm the 10th wheel on a server after queue so I'm left to try to squad lead randoms. My usual opening line after the squad fills up is "Get in the transport truck/non-logi APC, we're gonna back-cap." After a minute or two in the staging phase I'll hit them with "we'll either attack or defend after third cap blah blah blah." Filling their ears with a basic bullshit strat will get them on the same page as you and lets them know your brain is working. That, plus a sure and confident voice will get them to follow—if not, at least consider—what you say as you improvise into the match.

If things went well or at least went badly due to things out of your control, your randoms for the night will usually stick with you and listen to you more. If you see non-clan regulars on servers you play on a lot, you should add them. That happening is how my current group formed. Even if you don't get a full squad of guys in a group having two or three hard, pipe-hittin' niggas in your pocket as an SL does wonders to corral the blueberries in your squad just by monkey-see-monkey-do.

Also, don't get tilted at your squadmates. Even if they make mistakes. Maybe even if they're assholes about it. If a lone random who joins your squad is an asshole to you, he'll leave on his own. If you get tilted and snap at one of your squadmates, the other seven guys probably won't leave but you'll be lowered in their eyes. Shit talk in SL chat all you like post-game if it went badly, that doesn't matter. But not at the guys under you. Be psychopathic in your positivity towards them, if you can.

SQUAD DRAMA ALERT!!!:
Squad YouTuber Col. Kernel's Video from this morning with first-hand information:
Summary: 7th admins banned us for being too good and ruining their pubstomp server

Effortpost I've been working on for a few days:
Recently, Squad devs OWI had announced sign-ups for Squad Arena #2 on May 17th:
1748330127555.webp
Then, a bunch of regular players (20+) were banned from 7th Rangers servers and put onto the Community Ban List for "recruiting" on May 20th. The names on the CBL line up with a team called "Deep State" that participated in the first official competitive tournament from OWI, Squad Arena (tournament webpage) which the 7th also had teams participating in:
CBLlist.webp1748329968028.webp1748329986851.webp
(The first Squad Arena was a disaster. So it's likely the same teams will participate despite the sign-up process. YouTuber MoiDawg has a video describing the tournament. His footage coincidentally is one of Deep State's matches.)
The 7th admins say that they had the OK from OWI to ban the Deep State guys (even though Deep State was clean enough to participate in the official OWI tournament?):
1748327355033.webp
Naturally the 7th admins have been spazzing out in the general chat of their Discord this week. Notably against their own members asking questions:
1748415518417.webp
1748333864158.webp
1748331968035.webp
1748331578496.webp
1748331595588.webp
1748415383918.webp
This spergery suggests they're banning more regulars than just whoever they put on the CBL. Likely they'll ban someone unaffiliated with Deep State.
1748619319676.webp1748619345193.webp1748619375510.webp1748619483954.webp1748619533856.webp1748619551625.webp1748619568186.webp

Datamining of the CBL reveals that while the 23 7th Rangers "Recruitment" bans were active (between 5/20 and 5/22), there were a total of 42 recruitment bans ever on the CBL.
1748332883243.webp
Contrasted with the 92(!) bans for Pedophilia on the CBL, 7th Rangers admins more than doubled the lifetime count of recruitment bans in the span of an hour which still was not even half of the lifetime bans for "Pedophilia." This probably threw red flags for the CBL jannies, who then audited the bans and removed them. This suggests that the 7th admins did not have any evidence to support the bans. Trying to plaster bullshit bans on a new comp team onto the CBL went exactly like one would think it should.
cblPardon.webp
Getting spanked by the megajannies has led to the 7th admins sperging even harder. Col. Kernel's drama video initially mentioned 7th member "Familiar" as a "chill member" in the video description. 7th server owner Junglesnot then banned Familiar seemingly just for being mentioned in the video description. Familiar disavowed being mentioned in the comments and is now unbanned. Kernel has since edited the description to spare anyone else from the schizo janny's wrath:
1748644211373.webp
*"@familiar" appearing without his play-pretend military rank indicates he was banned.
1748644114570.webp
Now we all know what happens when a developer finally starts putting the bare minimum into managing their community after 10 years: A group of players still gets banned from a server for simply being too good. Imagine how shit things must have been for the last 9 years? They weren't great, I can tell you.

Someone rented "communitybanlists.com" [archive] and decorated it quite tastefully. Registration and website content information date it at Febuary or March of this year.
1748337584607.webp
I looked up the xitter and didn't find anything Squad related on any similar looking accounts. But it's funny nonetheless.

You really buried the lead in your post.

"7th Rangers admins ban an opposing team in OWI's official tournament for "recruiting" and begin plastering it on the ban list that other server admins (who are inevitably part of the competitive scene) and OWI look at (Even if OWI says they're "unaffiliated" with the CBL). Only three days after sign ups for the second official OWI tournament had opened."

That should have been at least 50% of your words on the Happenings post and your, like... second or third paragraph here.

So let me get this straight... the ban is for asking people to join playing in public servers? What's wrong with that? If you're not supposed to meet people in game and ask them to join where the hell are you supposed to get new members from?

Is this a case of one comp team trying to ban a fledgling team that crushed them? Is this a bunch of randos that play a server but arent officially affliated with it grouping up and then getting banned by said server.
I see the salt and drama and am interested, but I cant tell if it's my autism, OP being retarded, or both.

Col. Kernel's video describes him putting together the team simply through squad leading open squads and playing with the same players over and over again and then taking those same guys into Squad Arena. He later then organized a raid onto 7th's random conquest (RAAS) server to counter-clan stack the 7th's comp team players on the public server, with Kernel's guys getting a pretty long winstreak against the 7th. He also says that the list of players targeted for the CBL bans didn't originate entirely from the Squad Arena roster or players present for his raid event, but just from people often in his own in-game Squads. So it seems it is one comp team banning a fledgling team which is also a bunch of randos grouping up and then getting banned for doing so.

Recruiting is often pushed to its own little areas like on the subreddit or on the official Discord. It is usually a boilerplate rule on a lot of servers, but that's usually for shit like blatantly advertising shit in text chat. In my experience openly recruiting by making "plz join us" posts just isn't realistic. Being in-game and finding guys you play well with is the only way to do it. As for what people like the 7th expect people to do? I expect they think everyone will want to be part of them and get on their knees to do so.

I tried ARMA 3 and its way too much for me. Plus, I don't do multiplayer and that's where the game really seems to be the best.

ARMA Reforger seems less front-loaded than 3 on the multiplayer side of things. The vanilla game modes seem pretty simple. Load in, gear up, and move to the objective.

Squad News:
Unreal Engine 5 Migration (Squad 9.0) Delayed: [Link to Steam Game News Post]
1753220169130.webp
After a wave of videos about the most recent playtest which decried it as a step-back from previous playtests were put out by Squad YouTubers, OWI made the decision to delay the update. Concerns were with performance and a myriad of bugs. Some of those bugs are similar to ones in earlier versions of Unreal Engine 4 Squad—suggesting continued reliance on UE Blueprints or older tooling and implementation practices. Overall, the reception of the decision has been positive. Most of the community would rather have UE5 Squad work well rather than have it at all.

Personally, I usually get 80-120 FPS at 4K native on a mix of low-medium settings on UE4 Squad, depending on the map with an RTX 4080 and 7800X3D CPU. With the UE5 playtests I've done, I sit always sat around 70-80 with medium-high settings and DLSS Quality. The biggest problem which affected everybody is massive frame-time hitching on scoping in with a Picture-in-Picture scope, which isn't a problem in UE4 squad.

OWI's release date for 9.0 was Summer 2025. With their usual playtest schedule, I would assume a mid-August/Labor Day release with a couple more playtests.

Systemic Cheating Uncovered in Competitive Mods:
The team Old Continentals [OC] consist of some of the longest-involved and allegedly best competitive Squad players. Some of their members even developed the mod used to organize competitive matches and allow a caster overlay with in-game information. Their involvement in modding extends even to the "Official" mod for Squad Arena, OWI's officially organized tournament.

Using Epic Online Services IDs, the modders (members of [OC]) hardcoded the ability to access keybinds that ran functions that changed the state of the game, such as ticket bleed, infinite ammo, increase/decreased damage, and wallhacks. Some of the cheats apply to the individual cheater and others to the entire team, meaning that all of [OC]'s members in a match benefited from the cheats even if they never knew they existed.
