There's plenty of dumped cats in Canada and the US that people aren't willing to take on.I'm torn on this because these aren't ferals, for which TNR is the best choice, but dumped pets since Kuwaitis think EVERYTHING is disposable.
And there aren't enough people in Kuwait willing to take a discarded cat...
I have an old blind one I got six weeks ago when her owners dumped her on my friend, their neighbour. They said "can our cat stay in your bathroom while our place is getting sprayed for roaches?" And then at the end of the day said "we hate that cat lol we don't want her back, thanks!"
My friend and I had to figure out for ourselves that she's blind. It took two vet visits to confirm. She probably went blind later in life and the fuckers just decided she was being "bad." She's an anxious mess and she doesn't use the litter box. Every rescue agency in the large, affluent city I live in tell me they are over capacity and can't help me.
This cat lived her entire life in one apartment, with a white Canadian couple, who tossed her like trash when she got inconvenient. Couple of fucking Chantals.
I literally have no idea what to do with this cat. She'll probably end up euthanized, even though she's perfectly healthy, just too traumatized and confused to use the box. My friend and I are covering 100% of this cat's costs. We'll probably pay for the euthanasia and be the only two people who are sad for this otherwise sweet little old lady cat.
But yeah I know there's some rich Karens in town who import multiple rescue cats from other countries. Well-socialized former pets who, as well-socialized former pets, actually stand a way better chance of being taken in by people who want a low maintenance pet.
I get being torn too, I feel the same way about international human adoption. Obviously you want to help innocent creatures in bad situations. But something about it seems virtue signally, when charity quite literally begins at home.

Sorry for the rant everyone. I guess I'm triggered. I hope the next time Chantal gets bitten she loses her arm.
