Airsoft guns usually have orange tips on the barrels or some other distinguishing feature so people don't mistake them for real ones, but the protestors may have gone full blown exceptional and painted them black to make them look real.

I don't think they'd be considered antifa, but there are white socialist volunteers fighting with the Syrian Democratic Forces. Some of them were active on reddit when I used to use it.
