General Wrestling Discussion

He really got a shitty deal. I’m glad he got the fuck out of wrestling and has a normal job and left with very few injuries. Dude actually got lucky by being released. He also seems like a really good dude too.
Absolutely. Cornette was spot on that his life probably turned out better because he got out of wrestling. It sucks for us fans, though, because that gimmick could've been money. Originally the character had real good points and was 100% right. Arabs (I know he was Italian American but you know what I mean) were getting shit simply because of their ethnicity and he was representing them like that. It would've been pretty easy to have him make a face turn, too.

Of course, the fact he wasn't Arab wouldn't fly today but he did pass as Arab. He also was a legit heel because he did heel shit in his matches like cheating, but he was making valid points and everyone knew it.

Instead the WWE had to make him actually become a terrorist. Even at the time I thought it made no sense since he spent the first few weeks specifically saying that he was NOT a terrorist. It made the whole gimmick dead. All they had to do was keep him the same.

All of the VDS sufferers have been saying that Vince is totes done and he's totes gonna go to jail for 3 years now. It just reeks of desperation hoping that this finally means that their VDS can go away that they've been suffering from for at least 20 years all because he buried vanilla midgets like Lance Storm and Taka Michinoku. The main reason why Laurinaitis got dropped as a defendant by the way was because she didn't have any evidence against him.
Just watch. Eventually Vince is going to get a Hunter Biden style pardon from Trump and the meltdowns will be glorious.

Yeah not to get wired but Sicily is pretty close the Middle East section of Africa so he might have some Arab ancestry but who the fuck knows. I will never understand why they gave him a terrorist gimmick given we were 4 years removed from fucking 9/11. Jesus Vince could be a bizarre booker sometimes.

He's consistent, at least. Remember heel Sgt. Slaughter?

Also to add to the whole JCP deal and also possibly misremembering but didn't he have one if not a couple private jets to fly around Flair and friends? Last time I checked it ain't cheap to maintain a private private jet let alone a on call pilot and flight arrangements.
If I'm remembering correctly, the jets were Dusty's idea (He was part of the front office at that point in time). It was Dusty's penchant for overspending JCPs $$, and the Crocketts for going along with it, that was a big part of the reason that The Crocketts had to eventually sell out to Ted Turner.

The saddest part about it? Had they noticed even a month early, Crockett could have salvaged it. During Cornette's first "Back to the Territories" video series, he and JJ Dillon discussed how little time was needed to get back on track.
Tony Khan ceremoniously banning a 70-year old Hulk Hogan from the company for saying a no-no word in a private conversation almost 20 years ago.
This one is funny. Like I'm not supposed to believe his wealthy, billionaire Arab father hasn't been dropping nigger words for decades? Probably has a trophy wall of Indian and SE Asian passports and Visas from all of his slave labor somewhere, too.

Or third string quarterback in the NFL. Even if you're put into a game, everyone expects you to suck anyway
the main trick with that is you need to be active long enough to get vested, I forget if that's three or five years, but iirc there's a "so you actually suck and washed out immediately" penalty for the real long-term players' benefits

I always thought the sweetest gig in sports would be the fifth or sixth arm in an MLB bullpen for basically the same reason.

There's guys who have made an entire career out of being the guy that gets brought in for the last few innings because the team is losing badly and they just want to save the decent guys arms for the next game.

Occasionally they'll have a uniquely weird change-up or slider that will actually catch people out so the team can justify keeping them on because they still strike people out from time to time.
