Don't forget the presentation of audio editing from (I think) NVIDIA which is very difficult to find right now where the guy clips and reorders things people never said faking their voice.
There was also a video of video-to-video of people using their own face to puppet a celebrity.
I can't find either of these right now because the terms have changes. Both of them would be considered "Deepfakes" now, but they weren't at the time, so even if you go on Wikipedia it says Deepfakes only started in 2020.
I'll have a look around for that because it sounds interesting. I think I remember the face puppetteering. I believe it's what killed Milo, the Kinect game on Xbox 360. I think Peter Molyneaux actually did it and made a real-time (ish) interactive game where you talk to an AI generated character.
Kinect was held back, Google Glasses worked but were discontinued. AR and Microsoft Glass (whatever it was called) was cancelled, again because I believe it was ahead of its time.
I'll do a full sperg down the line when I can link it to another few events. The long and short of it is that the shut down of Tumblr was orchestrated using the ratchet effect (make it hate by the left, then hate by the right, just like blackface, bad words etc.)
When Tumblr was shut down (it's not shut down fully but it may as well be), the majority of the normiecattle cheered that the degenerates were finally stopped, their horrible art club shut down. Ignore the fact that tumblrites fled to every gaming company and ruined them systematically with transgenderism and faggotry, that's a complete coincidence, I'm sure.
One can find tumblr disgusting and distasteful, but it was a free platform where people could share fanction and fan pictures of home grown art, videos and short-form videos. All for free. It made money on advertising but back in 2016, Yahoo ads wrote-down a significant value of the company saying it wasn't making advertising goals (The peak MAU was 150 million..). Who knows what they were, but a platform that was visited by millions and was one of the biggest social media platforms on the internet not making advertising goals is a red flag.
It was removed from the IOS store because of Child abuse material and nudity. Hmm. How many sites host child porn, allow nudity and are open for abuse by pedophiles with no pushback or bans?
Tumblr was shut down because it couldn't be controlled. Too much was share for free too much was done on a popular platform that couldn't be stopped or co-opted so it had to be Shut Down (tm).
Short form videos are huge on youtube and tiktok. Nudity is shared freely on Snapchat and instagram. Sharing stories and blogs happens on whatsapp, facebook, instagram...notice a pattern? All of those social media sites are approved by those in power.
Tumblr could do something that not other site could; share music, videos and all sorts of multimedia content, without copyright infringements. It was allowed to be customised with people's own ideals, including naughty-no-no ideology. Tags and information were user-edited and could circumvent any control that 'they' wanted to imply. Good timing as well, because a year later COVID hit...
'They' used the pedo angle, which they're all involved in, to push public opinion to find tumblr a disgusting platform that needed shutting down. All the while they stripped the ideas, split it between their own acceptable social media sites, while locking down and banning the video, music and content sharing.
I know this is a bit rambly, I'll put it together better in a future post. But tumblr was too free and too popular and needed to be shut down because it couldn't be controlled and masses cheered for it. The tumblrites didn't disappear, they were allowed to infect more media to destroy those platforms and artforms that couldn't be controlled.
This, I also believe, is unironically correct. Look at the drop in quality in gameplay overall, too.
Left 4 Dead is still one of my favorite examples, you can see the drop in quality in the details between L4D and Back 4 Blood pretty easily:
Left for dead launched a week or so after GoW 2. L4D 2 launched in 2009. The timing is during the recession. There are enough conspiracy theories out there about how the recession was planned. Was part of the plan to start the reset of the technology, like what happened in 1920 with the wall street crash? My tinfoil hat is sparking like a firework.
Let's not mention that modern AI looks fucking terrible on purpose. They hold modern day AI on a pedestal, making it sound amazing, then put out videos that are obvious fake and bullshit to make people believe that is the height of the AI's ability, when it isn't. People become normalised to crap AI, thinking that they can spot Ai because "hey, it's crap!", all the while the real, powerful, truly magnificent AI sneaks right under their nose.
Remember the Deepfake drama? That was shut down immediately with extreme prejudice because it was too good. Deepfake used AI in 2017, 8 years before the much worse version of AI we have today.
When anyone digs into this topic, they can see more and more examples of how technology is held back, shut down or outright destroyed in an animal-farm like way to convince the masses it was never that good.
