I'm sad that George and Harold are played by 30-something-year-olds and not actual kids, it's pretty distracting. But I am sold on Captain Underpants' voice now that I heard his "Tra la LAAAAA", it's exactly as I imagined it to be. The animation makes me think of Blue Sky's
Peanuts Movie, though there's still subtle differences that undoubtedly make it DreamWorks. It looks more like it took
Mr. Peabody & Sherman and changed up the art-style in that aspect.
If you ask me, I do think the movie's a few years too late to be made, but I'll still go see it because I have

that bad and it was one of my favorite childhood book series. That "first epic movie"
is a nice callback to the first book, but this is a
movie, the subtitle is cringey af and wholly unnecessary. So unless they were planning on making a Netflix series off of this, they should've just kept it as
Captain Underpants and it'd still drive the point home.
I feel like 2017 just isn't a good year for DreamWorks Animation (the last few years weren't good for the company either, but I was at least happy with their movies). Unless
Boss Baby and/or
Captain Underpants makes enough money--and the odds are against them this time--it's only going to further shorten their lifespan. I want them to at least survive long enough to finish
HTTYD3 (in 2019

) and any other
Kung Fu Panda films they may be making, but it's possible their journey is coming to an end. It's quite sad, honestly.
Well, at least we have the
so-bad-it's-good animated music video that was hosted on Dav Pilkey's website years ago.
