Multiple blocks of downtown Boulder were evacuated Sunday afternoon after an attack on the Pearl Street Mall that Gov. Jared Polis characterized as a “heinous act of terror.”

“Hate-filled acts of any kind are unacceptable,” Polis said in a statement on social media. “While details emerge, the state works with local and federal law enforcement to support this investigation.”

Several people were injured in the attack, which occurred near the Boulder County Courthouse at Pearl and 13th streets in downtown, the Boulder Police Department said on social media.

The agency has not yet said who or what was attacked on the pedestrian mall. Information on the number of victims and the extent of their injuries was not immediately available.

The 1200, 1300 and 1400 blocks of Pearl Street were all evacuated, according to a 3:08 p.m. update from the police department.

Those blocks are bordered by Pine Street to the north, 15th Street to the east, Walnut Street to the south and Broadway to the west.

Police asked the public to avoid the area.

I actually got on really well with one of the Pakistani Muslim lads I worked with because he was just a good hang.

He got arranged-married at one point and introduced me to his wife when she was head to toe covered up which was very awkward. Generally speaking, Muslim men don't like people speaking to their women but because I knew the guy I ended up having an awkward as fuck conversation with his missus where all I could see was her eyes. He'd already shown me pictures of her at home in regular clothes and she was genuinely fucking gorgeous.

I asked him why he thought she should have to hide herself in public and he dug out some nonsense about every woman's basic instinct is to be a temptress so it was actually a good thing for them to cover themselves up.
