I was gonna comment that this much shade won't be good for his plants either, especially the chili plants want lots of heat and direct sunlight, but then I remembered he just buys those at the store fully grown, unblemished, plants them to show off how great a manly gardener he is, so that's moot anyway. He could have just gotten a metal fence at least for the parts that have the salted soil upon which he doesn't grow his plants.
The entire thing just seems weird to me anyway, nothing has happened with that in almost a year at this point, so I'd bet it's for attention again, now that second Jackie has lost interest and there's nothing else going on, he probably figured activity in his garden at least gets speculation going again, he's not exactly wrong but it's also not gonna go on for too long.
