That would be the expectation, but I'm starting to wonder if maybe he was always this prone to reacting poorly to widespread criticism. Think about it, he pretty much never faced any kind of backlash for anything, Kickstarter crap was going after low hanging fruit, IIRC, the only responses he got were from some wannabe rapper and a genuine autist. He was never in danger of receiving widespread criticism about either. With content cop, he typically went after very easy targets - bottom of the barrel react channels or people who were already hated and in recent controversy like Keemstar. The most danger he ever put himself in was going after Leafy, there was potential audience crossover there, but Leafy wasn't a particularly creative content creator and just churned out a lot of shit that a lot of Ian's fans back then were probably getting tired of. Ricegum was a retard hypebeast that nobody older than 13 liked anyways, and Tana had virtually no audience crossover and she tried to respond in a way that would play awfully to turn anybody against Ian.
I'm at the point where I think Ian would have had a fall from grace independent of Anisa. His whole "puppetmaster" comment betrays a lot more than just that situation, Sam Hyde destroyed him because it didn't go his way. The OnlyFans shit destroyed him because that didn't go his way. Creator Clash 2 destroyed him because it didn't go his way. Before those events, shit typically went his way, and he coasted on that for a really long time - the OnlyFans stuff is when shit started to go wrong, and his response made things a lot worse. That was the first domino in his string of further humiliation. Everything since then has been a desperate attempt to turn the tables or a tail-between-the-legs retreat, literally anything to quell the mockery and criticism.
It's no wonder he's pissed at Donut Operator, it probably makes him feel so goddamn stupid. He was in the same situation, he had similar "chud" fans (at least in modern Ian's perspective, they are right wing, therefore incel/chud) so he's flipping out because Donut never got the same hate. His ego is raped by the idea that he may have made a misstep, and he cannot stand that Donut is living proof that this isn't just some random injustice that simply happened to him, it was the result of his own actions.
