To add onto this, Sam's friend, Nick, said the same thing as well when he got asked, "How do I make money on YouTube?". And the short of it was, you don't and you don't make money for a very long time. You actually spend more money than you will make from doing this. He said, even when him and Sam had the Adult Swim deal, he still made more money selling cars than producing a TV show.
