Nintendo Switch 2 - For the Soytendo consoomers to speculate about the successor to the Switch, recently announced for 2025.

I for one think the shortages are fake and gay.
What material shortage is there right now that justifies there not being enough to manufacture and stock?
Absolutely none.
This is false FOMO to get people to panic buy.
That’s part of it, but a large part is the Nips were gung ho about getting as many units into the states as quickly as fucking possible due to the tariffs. Thank Trump for striking the feet of god into the Nips to prevent insane shortages because they just wouldn’t have given a fuck otherwise.

In fact, shortages of their product and mass scalping is probably something they like to see so there is a longer duration of FOMO, panic buying, and hype around their shit console.

Man, I wish the Switch 2 success, but Nintendo has a bad habit of going from monster success to an immediate fumble, largely due to arrogance and greed. The Switch is the best console they've had in decades due to the enormous range of games they had, from new games, to classics and remasters, to incredible 3rd party support even when the Switch versions weren't as good as the other consoles. All because the hybrid console/handheld idea was lightning in a bottle.

I really hope they don't fuck this up, I really like the hybrid idea and it works very well for them. Right now I just don't really want one though.

EB Games in Australia has a "Ban List" of scalpers who are not allowed to buy pre-ordered consoles.
That's interesting, browsing through their legal seems to show you need to have ID to collect things you have placed an order for l, but I assume that is only for an in-person purchase and pick up. Do you know someone who works in corporate or instore that got this info? Just curious how they track and enforce this.
Edit: maybe storewide databases that track if multiple consoles are purchased at different shops to then be scalped. That would definitely be workable.

I went to pick up my Switch 2 and the guy literally said, "Let me just check that you're not on my Ban List", as he ran his eyes down a printed list of names.

I finalized my preorder and picked it up late yesterday. Here ‘s the rundown:
  • I arrived at GameStop just a little after 3 PM and a line had already formed. In addition to being incredibly long (the line wrapped around one side of the building temporarily blocking access to three other businesses and ended on the sidewalk) and somewhat unorganized. Thankfully an employee cleared things up and specified that there were two lines: one for finalizing preorders and one for no preorders.
  • Going through the preorder finalization was mostly painless. All we had to do check in, pay off any outstanding debts, and “preorder” any additional items we may have wanted (I tacked on a Switch 2 Pro Controller and a third-party “deluxe” carrying case that could carry everything I needed).
  • They did ask if we wanted to add on extended warranties to any high-end products that we were picking up. I decided to get a one-year warranty just to be safe against any first-year installment funkiness that arises.
  • After completing the order were given a completed receipt with a numbered sticker, said sticker served as both your place in the pick-up line and as a raffle ticket number.
After that I fucked off to grab a bite to eat elsewhere in the area and returned at around 8 to line up for pick up.
  • The line for the “open” orders was gone by the time I got back. I can only assume that once preorders were finalized they started to process those without a preorder and add ‘em to the pick up line.
  • There was some initial funkiness with lining up, a fair amount of people that had line up early in the hopes that they could be the first to pick up their order had to move further down the line And yes, this was clearly explained by the staff.
  • The raffle ultimately amounted to them giving out $10 eShop cards, some old preorder swag they didn’t give out at release, and a random-ass Funko POP.
  • When pick-up started it was an easy process, it took me about 10 minutes to pick up my shit.
I’ll give a decent-ish review of the system this evening or Friday morning, I need to get some playtime in.

Good, now only if GameStop had that for Pokémon cards then maybe it’d be easier to buy something.

GamStop had a system like that in place for preorders, it’s tied to the GameStop account you file the preorder with and there was a one-per-household rule.

The amount of people i've seen doing a the soyboy face on twitter with there new toy is crazy

Here is something else funny i found. This guy had a amazon preorder but still turned up to the local toy store at midnight to wait in line to buy, nothing.

He even considered getting one despite the fact he has one on the way.

This guy has no job lets be real. He looks like the type you'd see stinking up the local job centre

Just a reminder to people steam deck base model is 50$ cheaper, will run basically anything, can connect whatever USB crap you want, and already comes with a library if you have a steam account.

Can't believe some people know of both and are on the fence about the switch 2 vs steam deck. I guess if you are a nintendo fan sure, but for JUST a handheld device?

I'm currently saving my money and waiting to see what an ASUS ROG ALLY 2 (or any other yet to be announced portable gaming handhelds compatible with Steam OS) can do before committing to any kind of new hardware purchase. Nintendies told me to stop being poor so I'm willing to spend a premium for a new device out of spite if it means I can pirate their precious Switch 2 games for free and still enjoy the flexibility of a mobile device I can dock and play on my tv.

I hate Mario Kart 9. Every race has only one lap. You enter the race and 40 seconds later it has already ended. What's even the point of circuits anymore? Even during online multiplayer the races have only one lap, and you can only pick the closest circuits on the map as the next race. I'm dumbfounded at how stupid it all is. It's a racing game without racing.

Got my switch as well delivered after the store tryed to force me to pick it up IN-Store (delivery was paid for).

So far the base version of my console was 19.0.0 which updated to 20.1.1
Serial starting with HAE10011xxxxxxx

Don't forget that you will eventually be able to emulate it on your PC, hell your Steam Deck if you want. There is no reason to buy this thing unless you absolutely must play the newest bing bing wahoo right now, or if you absolutely must play Pokemon Scarlet Violet in 60FPS for 15 minutes before the game has another game breaking bug or memory leak(none of these can actually be fixed btw, it's a problem that would require completely redoing the game from scratch) and I am pretty sure you could already play that game in 60FPS on an emulator anyways.

They just pretended they were boycotting it.
That's what they always do though.

SJW/Troons pull the pretender syndrome all the time when it comes to video games. They act like they've been there from the beginning and then immediately throw a temper tantrum when their dogshit commie religion is not included into EVERYTHING. As a result, 99.9% of devs fall for it and the game + community around it get completely destroyed while they move on to their next target.

This has been going on for a decade or more. You give these people an inch, they will take a mile and will NEVER EVER be satisfied, and the fact that devs are so fucking buck-broken and braindead that they still cater to these fucks is what's the most depressing part about all of this. Just tell them to fuck off and they will go away... kicking and screaming, but they WILL go away.
