Honestly, I'm really interested in hearing what my brother says when he hears about this:this must be like watching your parents get divorced.
A year or so ago, he used to be anti-Trump, but significantly more anti-Elon ("I think Elon is like Lex Luthor and will kill us all"), then saw Elon being based online, started liking him, and by extension started to like Trump. Even realised, after looking into it, that he himself has a lot of opinions that lean very 'Republican'.
He's intellectually aware that people like Trump and Elon aren't idols: they're fallible, change their minds, lie, exaggerate, etc.
But emotionally, he still wants things to be black and white because that's less complicated. So very curious to hear how he reconciles this.
EDIT: For the record, my opinion is and has always been that Elon is basically an IRL 4Chan/Something Awful autist with Fuck You money (before I even knew he was an aspie), and Trump's just a guy I was interested in because of how fucking angry people got about him existing.
