I wish everyone a good D-Day,

Eighty-one years ago on this date, Allied forces landed in France to help liberate Europe from Nazi rule.

Sadly, so far today haven't seen a single mention of D-Day in the media, least what little I look at.

Today's a day to remember the service, sacrifice, and heroism displayed not only on D-Day, but every day after that until the Germans surrendered. And we should never forget the role the Soviet Union played in defeating Hitler; they paid a far heavier price than did any other country who fought the Nazis.

Those who don't remember their history will need to relive it. I don't want to see another D-Day required.

For those who say the wrong side won the war, I call BULLSHIT. You wouldn't have wanted to live in a world where the Axis won the war. Chances are there would be no KF. Chances are many of us might not even be here. Today's world is far from perfect but we still have the means to effect change.

No mentions in the media? Maybe they should have tried harder.

Biden never increased it. It’s locked to $10k by legislation. I’m guessing you’ve never owned a house or live in a state with very low/no property taxes. (Does such a state exist?) If you take an itemized deduction, you can add in your state income tax OR sales tax AND property taxes as a deduction. This is to align with the principle of not getting double-taxed (a BS idea; a dollar gets taxed several times until it gets from your employer to a your grocer’s cash register). If they have a mortgage, the interest can often be enough to make normal, middle class Americans itemize, and so many normal, middle class Americans use SALT deductions.

Even if you are married you are still limited to $10k. It doesn’t double like most MFJ values do. It was essentially a hack to get the first TCJA passed. The Republicans didn’t particularly like the cap.

Friendly reminder more Americans died on 9/11 than D-day, in our collective conscious it was some "herculean sacrifice" but in reality it was mid '44 and the Russians had the Germans on the ropes, we came in when we did so that we could "save" some parts of Europe from soviet "liberation".

If your grandpappy waxed about "the seas turning red with blood' he was fucking with ya, read about the Somme or any other ww1 or ww2 EASTERN front for those kind of losses.

We landed over 1,00,000 men on a hostile beach in a month with only 30k allied casualties in HEAVY fighting. Look how bad the Anzio landings went by comparison with FAR less troops involved.
