RPGnet Forums

Definitely not a bot.

The thing I love most about RPGnet is that their insane purity spiral has long ago reached the point where they ban their own for the slightest deviation from the shitlib religion.

The final stage of SJW infection is when the host community slowly becomes more insular and starts dying out from years of purges and insane purity spirals. Such is the nature of parasites to kill their host.

Well you're in the right place then.

Which is why the forum will never meaningfully grow. They've created this environment for one incredibly specific type of leftist. Its like looking at a deep sea thermal vent and wondering why there aren't 50 different kinds of fish swimming around.

Why does no one want to go on RPGNet anymore?

"I agree. For all that this site is welcoming in the sense of not permitting various sorts of bigotry, it is very unwelcoming in other ways."

Least aware poster awardee.

It's a forum where purity spirals and tone policing is the real focus. You could say the nicest most, UNBIGOTED ™ comment ever but if someone decides your tone was off even the slightest they will pounce. Don't worry though, nobody will back you up because they know that the nail that stands up get pounded down so they'll just dogpile you.

Is there a poster who's been there less than a decade? It's an ancient forum; I used to visit it in the late 90s to read World of Darkness reviews. I'm guessing anyone who's still posting there has been marinating in the community's weirdness for so long they don't see what the place has become. It's like working in the monkey house so long you stop smelling the gorilla shit.

The only reason to post there is there are people you've been posting with for a long time that you don't want to be completely cut off from. ENWorld decided a while back to cut the woke purity spiral crap (it's still pretty lefty, don't expect to promote RaHoWa there, they just keep the focus on RPGs), and I'm surprised everyone hasn't moved there already.

I haven't visited ENWorld in a while; did they make a post to that effect or was it a gradual change?

It was a hard break. After witnessing RPG.net's self-destruction, they simply shut down every non-RPG-related part of the forum and announced the forum is talking about RPGs, and if you want to talk about something else, go somewhere else on the internet. The rules lean decidedly left in terms of "inclusion." You won't last long if you want to complain about Goodman going woke or the troonification of D&D culture. However, you also won't last long if you jump into OSR threads to demand everyone have a struggle session over how problematic orcs are.

Seems like there are still some non-RPG-related areas. "No politics" is still mentioned in the forum description.

Even Plebbitors know that RPGNet is a toilet because of the mods.

The amount of colloquialisms that will earn you a ban on rpg.net is pretty high when you think about it. Red headed step child, sacred cow, too many chiefs and not enough indians, kick the bucket, cut some slack, rule of thumb.

Guarantee those limey faggot troons would ban accounts because they're either too new or only watch and view "potentially problematic" threads, minority report much?

I was actually curious about the "red-headed stepchild" thing so I looked it up.

I also looked up the "AI notebook ML app" thread while I was at it. Disappointingly, the thread features no amusing anti-AI seething. Rather, it was quickly locked due to people asking legal questions, which apparently violated some rule:

They've all been conditioned to problematize too much. They read malicious intent into everything, because they see themselves as perennial outsiders/victims, which of course means that they are morally in the right.

In other words, if you look hard enough for something to get offended by, you'll find it.

Another big forums upgrade going in over the weekend. Be mindful of the poor benighted rpg.netters forced to wander the lawless fascist hellscape of reddit in the meanwhile.
