I don't think Chantal is going to get in trouble for this. If I had to bet, there will be no consequence at all.
People in Arab countries rightfully fear their government, and are raised to do so. They see the government as an all-powerful instrument that can exact vengeance. To an extent, it is. If they want to come down hard on you or your business, they will. They can really screw you over.
However, getting an Arab government to do what you want to solve your petty disputes with some foreigner? Especially a woman on woman dispute? It sounds almost impossible to me. Unless your family is really well connected, I think it's unlikely they'll do anything for you. Doubly so if it's something this small.
Yes, something like this is illegal in their country. But there are many illegal acts in that part of the world that go completely unpunished.
The woman at the charity threatening all this legal action seems like an idealistic teenager, and she might be.
I don't think there will be an investigation, like she says there will be. That would require actual investigators with salaries to come in and do their job. I'm not optimistic they would spring into action like the FBI for this.
I've heard Kuwait in particular has had poor record keeping in the past, which has allowed people to evade justice for minor crimes, but who knows.
I guess we'll all see pretty soon.
To be clear, I do believe the charity is going to file all the complaints they say they are, I just don't think it will amount to anything, since that would require the government to rally around them.
