Wonder if part of Kevin's popularity is that cargo cult aspect. Kevin doesn't have to work, gets lots of reblogs, and he receives so much cargo (Transformers) that it's obvious the gods are pleased with him. Having him as a mutual, even if you don't do more than thumbs-up his uwus and keysmashes, is an attempt to enter or stay in the circles of the blessed.

Kevin, for all his faults, is a lot more personable than Lou is capable of even pretending to be. Kevin's various obsessions, such as Transformers, draw people in, and he engages with them. There is a network effect in that Kevin has built a much larger circle to play with, but Lou is a constantly negative downer, takes little interest in anyone that isn't him, and has repeatedly alienated many online "friends" over the years, usually for the dumbest reasons. Even looking at the laziness of his begging, he could do much better with a small amount of effort that he just can't be bothered to put in.
The constant account deletions can't help, either.

There's also a comment chain where Lou thinks that he can call opinions slander because he doesn't agree with said opinions, and tries to tell the person he's arguing with that they are slandering people because the person he's arguing with didn't explicitly state that he was having an opinion. Interestingly no death threats, likely because either the AshCat724 Threads account is the same name as the AshCat724 Bluesky account and not because of the fed visit he casually bragged about getting for hardcore fedposting all over Disqus.

I think I remember him saying something about going to West Virginia once. It's not impossible that he's been to DC on a trip (I attended high school in PA and we did) but it wouldn't surprise me if he wiggled out of it or that not every school does it. It's a 3.5 hour drive to DC from Greensburg and while I was coming a bit further, that's still a hike.
