Mega Rad Gun Thread

One of you mentioned wanting a model 71 winnie in .348 hundreds of pages back. Alligoods on gunsinternation has one for 1495 which is a good price for these. lowest i've seen in a long while.

That would be me. It is a really good price. Has a few dings and blueing wear, but overall solid. If I hadn't just bought a Vector and wasn't in the middle of that project I'd be really tempted.

Now that I've fired the Ruger 22 I got for my old man when we all went shooting, I want one. The Ruger 22 really is a laser blaster, a boatload of fun, especially with 25 round mags. We fired copper plated Aquillia from it. Worked fine enough. Know it's not the best, being mexican ammo, but it worked. Thinking of getting a Ruger with a birch stock and stainless barrel. Again, just a thought. But it'd be a fun plinker and good survival gun. Got the money already too. Just a matter of deciding is all.
My suggestion would be to not cheap out like I did. The Ruger 10-22 is a great rifle for the price, there's tons of varieties on the market (takedown, tactical, traditional, etc.), the aftermarket support is great, and I really think it's the best bang for your buck as far as 22 lr rifles go. I made the mistake of initially Jewing out with a Savage 22 and a Winchester Wildcat, and the former is thoroughly below average while the latter is shit and I 100% agree with Paul Harrel just shooting his, as I also had the sight fall off while firing. I would personally opt for a 9mm carbine for a real survival gun, but it would be hard to go wrong with a Ruger 10-22 for a general purpose long gun, from plinking, to defense, to small game hunting. 22s are just fun anyways.

I also really have been enjoying my Ruger Mark IV pistol as well, so I would suggest getting some trigger time on one of those if the opportunity presents itself. The newer ones are a breeze to disassemble, so I would discourage getting an old model.
I was reading that recent thread in A&N subforum about that nig stealing a handgun right out of from some other man's holster and then killing the man with his own weapon.

And some people in the thread were discussing about what is a safe or unsafe holster for EDC, in terms of retention and conspicuousness.

So as not to derail that thread, I will ask here if this is an unsafe holster.
The strap must be pulled out of the metal bar in order to lift the flap clear.
I am of the firm opinion that one should only ever conceal carry when dealing with humans, and that open carry is for the wilderness or on your property. Real shitbags will always zero in on obviously armed men first, and pretending to be helpless is a great way to fly under the radar so you can waste a shitskin when necessary.

This is the one i want tbh. Stainless barrel, satin stock, really just pretty all around. Ill look into a 22 pistol sometime. But i find this to be what i want. I found shooting the 10/22 to be insanely fun. I want one that'll last 100 years but look like its from the 1950's.

I had one just like that years back with my first collection. It was the second 10/22 I owned. It had a slightly longer barrel than normal. Great little shooter.

@Club Sandwich
This is probably well outside of your wheelhouse but it doesn't hurt to ask

Some years ago I saw footage shot ( I want to say the timestamp on the footage was either 2004 or 2008) by a prison inmate of another Inmate playing with and repeatedly racking the slide of a loaded handgun. The Prisoners were American and I want to say they were in either a California or somewhere in the Southwest. I want to say the pistol was a Walther, might have been a P99.
The place I saw this footage was some kind of "underground" publication website (think of dollar tree Vice) like "Popular Front" or "550BC", I think the place was selling a book telling the story of how the gun got in the prison. I was just curious if you knew of the incident and the details regarding it.

I think I may have just the thing for you:

The Mannlicher-style stock is pretty rad. Also available blued if you'd prefer.

i never worked the prisons, and the county jail isn't a prison. while i can think of a variety of incidents that might be related, that specific one isn't quite anything that specifically comes to mind. most of the things smuggled into county lockup are drugs ingested prior to incarceration that are missed during intake. weapons are fashioned in prison or stolen from the commissary as a one-time-use thing. there were several incidents of fraternization and activity like bribes or whatever, which typically end up with the offender getting a new charge and the accomplice going to prison themselves.

What is up my negro amigoes I'm back after a long hiatus from the farms. I'm not a fan of posting pictures but I promise to post one soon because I'm building an SR25 spec-ish rifle. Currently building it on the Centurion Arms Mk11 receiver set and i have the 20" .308 barrel from Centurion and I snagged a JP Enterprises complete bcg off Optics Planet for $450. I'm trying to decide if I want to get a new or used SneedForce ATACAR.

Also have a few handguns coming in.

That stock also looks highly unpleasant to use.
Dunno, it might not look great but I can see it being decent for running around with minus the possibly impromptu hook that is the cheekpiece.
We'll never know, however, because they scrapped it and removed all traces of it.

Zero Compromise ZC210. Unless you want more magnification. I'm not sure what role you want your AR-10 in. I think Centurion Arms makes excellent parts. I look forward to seeing pics.

Speaking of .22 LR rifles, anyone have any experience with Volquartsen rifles? I'm not exactly in the market for one (I'd get a 10/22 or a CZ 457 first) but I am curious.

Finally, I can highly recommend taking a class from Ben Stoeger. That guy is an excellent instructor and a world-class shooter, without a doubt. He's also got the personality type that makes me wonder if he reads/posts on this site. Joel Park may not have the social media presence Ben does but he's for certain on Ben's level and he's a heck of a nice guy. Absolutely worth all the costs associated with attending these classes.
