The average person doesn't benefit from any of this. Corporations grow almonds instead of produce in a place that's desert, stealing water from Northern California, Colorado, Arizona, Nevada and Mexico. Technology is used to spy on Americans, entertainment is porn/soft core porn and manufacturing is minuscule and irrelevant, like electric cars and other meme industries which are basically fronts for something else. If it all burned down tomorrow viable business will relocate. Nothing of value will have been lost.

Only useful part of California is the land itself. If every big city in the state was sprayed with nerve gas, letting the wildlife and smaller conservative towns to repopulate, quite literally nothing of value would be lost.
