He keeps trying to catch Kurt in these gay little linguistic traps and Kurt walks around every one of them with the finesse of a father trying to talk his retard kid into putting down the cat before it gets strangled. When Nick finally realises he isn't going to get whatever he wanted out of the exchange he drops a punchline that could only make sense in his Swiss cheese brain and Kurt responds with an indifferent '...okay' before it's dropped entirely.

I imagine this makes him a fucking nightmare to live with because nothing can ever be a simple yes or no; it's always a game of verbal ping pong that ends with Nick claiming he doesn't even care any way when he gets BTFO.

As I've said before, all of Nick's children, especially the boys, are under-sized to the point of appearing to need medical investigation. Until I encountered Nick I had thought it was pretty much impossible in modern America to stunt your child through malnutrition. There's so much cheap food in the US that even the poor people get fat. But it appears that's exactly what he's done, which is why the entire city of Wilmar keeps calling CPS and complaining that the children are hungry.

I have never met someone that has had CPS called on them and this guy seems to have had it happen several times.

I've known a few people that have been through the foster system, in particular one of my aunts is an orphan, my sister and one of our cousins are social workers, both of them refuse to work with kids because the system is a horrific place and you have to be a bit of a monster yourself to deal with it. Abuse is unfortunately extremely common, partly because a lot of people become foster parents specifically because of the stipend you get for each child; it's basically a low level human trafficking racket. I would not be surprised at all to find out Nick was taking out his frustrations on foster kids, abuse in the system is rarely punished because they don't want to discourage people from fostering, kids just get moved and in more serious cases foster privileges get revoked - you'd have to practically murder/rape the kids to see any criminal charges.
