alphabet is a 2.17 trillion dollar company, i'm guessing at this point it's not even about money it's just about power, they don't care if they have to spend a billion to make a million they will do it because they can and you don't want them to.

The loading times on GrayJay are ridiculously slow. When doing a search, results from Rumble and Odysneed appear almost instantly. With YT, it takes at least 10 seconds until search results come up, followed by another 10 seconds to start playing a video when selected.

My phone is half-decent (Pixel 7a running LineageOS) and this happens irrespective of whether I'm on 4G, 5G or wifi.

YT is absolutely fucking with browsers and apps where they have been unable to outright block said browsers/apps from playing content.

I've been using a user-agent spoofer addon for firefox to add a chrome user-agent while on youtube, the performance of the site is so much better with it

I was not able to make User-Agent Switcher and Manager work on the whitelist mode (there's no field to input a default spoofed user-agent), but it works nicely in the custom mode:

EDIT: Video load feels faster, but I tend to get 'Something went wrong' error pretty often within 1min of the video

This is why every corporation not based on real profit goes bankrupt the moment stonks stop going up and/or feds stop buying corpo paper.

Reported it a few pages back. (neremind, it was on the yt autism thread) Also, Mutha has reported on it, and so far the only person on my feed to do so.


Edit: I would also add the rundown some poster did on the video since it sums up the issue real well.

Summarising what happened:
• Slopes made video on a(n alleged) scammer
• Alleged scammer was mad and doxxed him
• Slopes went into the alleged scammer's WhatsApp group anonymously
• It's all in Spanish, so he downloaded the chat logs, uploading it to his Google drive, so he could have a Spanish friend look at it
• Google scanned the chat logs, and saw lots of horrible Hate Speech; and is punishing Slopes for having Hate Speech.
• Google set his entire account for deletion. Not just YouTube, but his entire photo library going back years and years.
• Slopes, in a panic seeing this, messed up his first chance to appeal this. There is possibly a second chance.
• He's asking if anyone knows anyone who has a direct line to YouTube, to contact his above email

It sucks that this is happening to him, I mean, I almost never watched his content outside of a video or two over the years but he never came off as the type to deserve this.

With that said, I think its important to remember that this needs to be taken as a cautionary tale about Google Drive or any cloud storage usage because if you dare have something in there that could be "interpretated" as hate speech (confirming they do scan and look through your shit), they will fuck you up.

All of that could have been avoided with one of these little guys right here.
