Several people killed in school shooting in Austria's second biggest city, police say

Police said they deployed in force to the area around a high school in the northwest of the city of Graz after shots were heard.

At least eight people were killed and several others injured in a school shooting Tuesday in the southern Austrian city of Graz, local media reported.

Austria's interior ministry confirming that several people had been killed at a Graz school.

A police operation was underway at the BORG Dreierschützengasse school, a secondary school located in the northwest of the city, Austrian police said in a series of posts on X.

The police added that several emergency services, tactical units and a helicopter had been deployed to the area. “The situation is secure. No further danger is expected,” it said in a post on X.

Police spokesman Fritz Grundnig told Austrian public broadcaster ORF that police had evacuated the building after gunshots were heard.

Those injured included students and teachers, who were taken to the nearby Helmut List Hall events space for emergency care, according to Austrian newspaper Kronen Zeitung.

A meeting point was set up for the students’ parents at the ASKÖ football stadium, the police said.

It was not immediately clear whether the suspected perpetrator was among those injured.

Yesterday, the Hungarian television channel TV2 reported that the shooter was none other than Sam Hyde!

According to survivors, the suspect is the 22-year-old Samuel Haider. The self-proclaimed gun fanatic tried to join the Wagner mercenary group in 2023 through a recruitment agency in Siberia, but was rejected for unknown reasons.

I don’t know if Tarrant knew it, but the mosque had radicalized terrorists in the past, and Muslims don’t recognize the humanity of anybody but themselves. Legit military target.

there isn't really a clear distinction between what you're thinking of as random violence and jihad. when boko haram sets a village on fire and kills some girls and abducts others for raping is that random?

this stuff happens outside the west with higher frequency than people are generally aware of because if it's brown and israel isn't involved nobody cares.
