If I remember correctly if you injure someone China with your vehicle (run them over, knock them off their bike etc) you are forced to pay for the injured person's medical bills for the rest of their lives. If you kill them however you only pay for the funeral so I'm the long term the funeral is much cheaper. There has been accounts of drivers coming back to finish off the person they hit. Also is why there are tons of insurance fraudsters in China jumping in front of people's vehicles pretending to be hit.
It's be reformed now, it just means to gov takes a cut by beating the shit out of you or making your life miserable in smaller places. Appeals are for loosers just like the USA.
On the topic of planes I wonder what kind of compensation to victims families get and do the people on the ground get anything. Air India isn't exactly a high end airline and I don't know what India's policy is for shit like this.
Aeroflot Flight 811 gives you an example. Be on a trip to your honeymoon with husband, literally get in a mid-air collision with VVS jet bombers in good visibility, fall 4000m to the ground on a magical Soviet carpet (debris) into frozen Siberia, get paid the equivalent of $20 by Aeroloft for surviving the crash when your husband was shredded into pieces.
According to wikedpedo:

The investigation blamed the aircraft manufacturer for unsatisfactory maintenance instructions, the supervising authorities for failing to supervise the maintenance crew, who lacked the skills to perform the heavy maintenance, and the flight crew for failing to notice the condition during pre-flight control checks.

So basically Brazil made a plane for Brazil.
That's Air Astana Flight 1388. The final report indicated that the the maintaince crew swaped the input wiring and reversed the alierons (but not the spoilerons). There was also a Russian military flight where they swapped the input eletrctronic wiring, apparently the slavs never got the concept of one way plugs in electronics lmao.
aileron .webp
The investigation determined as most probable cause for the accident the improper aileron cable installation on both ailerons during maintenance activities and subsequent inadequate independent inspection to the aircraft flight control systems, which resulted in a reversal operation of the aircraft aileron system and led to loss of control in-flight.
They've got the landing footage on FLIR from the FAP. ATC was recorded and released lmao.

14 years of service without a fatal accident is still pretty good, especially for an entirely new design using new composite materials.
I'd be very surprised if Boeing ever even comes close to such a record again, the 737 MAX is proof that the whole company is going to end up filled with substandard Jeet engineers.

As much as I dislike jeets, I can't imagine watching my brother getting shredded by a disintegrating aircraft while I get ejected with nary a wound.

Reminds me of the excerpt of Glamorama where Bret Easton Ellis writes about a bombing and subsequent plane crash.

“Of the three Camden graduates aboard the 747-Amanda Taylor (‘86), Stephanie Meyers ('87) and Susan Goldman ('86)-Amanda is killed first when she’s struck by a beam that crashes through the ceiling of the plane, her son reaching out to her as he’s lifted out of his seat into the air, his arms outstretched as his head mercifully smashes against an overhead bin in the craft, killing him instantly.

[…]

And the smell of rot is everywhere-coming off dismembered feet and arms and legs and torsos propped upright, off piles of intestines and crushed skulls, and the heads that are intact have screams etched across their faces. And the trees that don’t burn will have to be felled to extract airplane pieces and to recover the body parts that ornament them, yellow strings of fatty tissue draped over branches, a macabre tinsel. Stephanie Meyers is still strapped in her seat, which hangs from one of those trees, her eyeballs burned out of their sockets. And since a cargo of party confetti and gold glitter-two tons of it-were being transported to America, millions of tiny dots of purple and green and pink and orange paper cascade over the carnage.
🗣️🔥Glamorama mentioned 🗣️🔥 what the fuck is a healthy family

Always amazing when a single person survives something like that. I wonder how you handle that knowledge.

I'd probably get delusions of grandeur.

Your comment made me think of a recent article (local French news Source) about a survivor, not of a plane crash, but a hiking accident.

Basically, there was a group of hikers attempting the GR20 trail, which is the crossing of the island of Corsica. It’s super popular to the point where you have to book camping spots months in advance, but people often forget that it’s still rough terrain, and that nature is unforgiving.

This group of hikers was descending into the Cirque of Loneliness (a bowl-shaped depression) when an unexpected storm hit them.

Instead of continuing to climb down, they’ve decided to go back up, and shelter there.

Only the violence of the storm made rocks rain down on the path, and people were swept up and over the cliff.

The survivor took more time getting back up than the others, and there was no more space left for him with the group, so he was forced to stay put a bit further away.

He said his friend fell, and he had to let him go in order to survive, since he couldn’t hold on to his weight.

After the storm, he was the only one left standing and uninjured. He found two other guys alive in a crevasse with broken bones. The seven remaining people had died.

After the accident, he got delusions of grandeur, thinking nothing could reach him. He ended up having suicidal tendencies and reckless behaviour, ending up with broken vertebrae in a stupid canyoning accident.

Since then, he’s gotten better.

"There were 169 Indian, 53 British, 1 Canadian and 7 Portuguese passengers on board"
So, 223 pajeets and 7 Poortugals.
230 pajeets. The "Poortugals" were pajeets who got their Portuguese (read EU) citizenship due to their great granduncle once taking a street shit in Goa or something.

How the Brazilians are capable of making good aircraft in such a shit hole country is beyond me.

Looked up what an Embraer looks like. Basically a small plane. Don't think we have many of these here in the Land Down Under.

Qantas and Jetstar planes (same company) are all Airbus (A320, A330, A380) and Boeing (737, 787) and the online booking tells you what plane you're going to be on.

I think it should be mandatory for planes to have portraits of the people who had a hand in building the plane.

Non-White = nope, even if there's portraits of 61 Whites, 1 Asian, 1 Spic, 1 Jeet and 1 Black who were involved in building the plane, I'm out of there. All-White portraits or I fuck off.

Stepping foot on an Embraer is risky business since it's Brazilian and Brazil has niggers for some reason.

Hey I think my local hospital recruits from that medical college. Knock-on effects, Doctor Shortage in the Heartland! Oh no!
Don't worry. I'm certain every admin there has ample stockpiles of all the necessary blanks and stamps at home, and certification of Indian talent will continue unabated.

Managed out to figure out the cause of the disaster.

BECAUSE INDIA

The plane apparently lost all thrust from both engines immediately after takeoff. (Which is something that is supposed to be impossible.)

Despite this, the pilot, Jeet or not, managed to do a great job at keeping it flying and basically made it look like a landing approach. If there had been fields near the glide plane/airport he likely would have managed to make it touch down with little loss of life.

But India is a crowded, overbuilt hellhole, so instead of green fields, the AMD airport is smack in the middle of the city, and he flew into a building.

I hear a lot of talk about possible fuel contamination. The survivor mentioned that all the lights went off, emergency lighting came on, and the engines sounded like they were spinning down.

Dual engine failure isn’t supposed to be possible bare impossibly rare incidents like a double bird strike.

Like @Otterly said, the event is likely the result of a cascading series of failures since India is a shithole.

Someone siphons off some jet fuel to sell it to a street curry vendor. Gate staff take a couple of bribes to look the other way as someone brings on 100 kilo of cow shit, etc, etc.

As for maintenance, it seems that even Air India doesn’t trust Jeet mechanics, since they hired a Turkish company to do maintenance on their wide body jet.

This recently apparently changed since Turkey didn’t go FULL SUPPORT INDIA SAAR! So maybe some engines got improperly maintained in the interim?

The flaps weren't deployed-
"We're stalling!" he'd scream.

The checks, overlooked:
His curry was cooked
in jet fuel-fed flames.
All Indian names,

not one Caucasoid.
He could not redeem.

Curry aircraft crashes
Many people killed
Shocking as it sounds
Lots of poo was spilled

... screwy taxi down the runway then turn around to takeoff breaks the flow of the checklists. And increases the chances that something critical gets missed.

This presents itself as such a strong possibility, at least regarding config. Don't know how it would explain what happened with the engines though.

While I am horrified by the loss of life, I can't help anticipating the Mayday episode about it. It will be a wait of years, but worth it for the story of an actual plane crash, not some dips in a Cessna taken out by fumes.

Also if God is good Greg Feith will weigh in ...
