Three things to know about the pathology of Nick Fuentes:

A. Even when he was popular, all of his takes were directly derivative of 4chan and people who were smarter than him.
B. He is self-interested and compromised.
C. All his "punching Right", aside from point B, is because he had been given a taste of the Con INC. lifestyle and got shafted because he said something anti-Israel and another striver (whats-her-name, I forget who it is, might be Allie Stuckey) showed that to Ben Shapiro in order to get a leg-up.

It's actually insane how much of a non-entity Fuentes is after 2020. He used to be a leading voice in the so-called "Dissident Right" until Stop The Steal. He's not even a good "foil" in the same sense as James Lindsay.

Not sure why you put "so called" dissident right it's very much a dissident (A dissident is a person who disagrees with and actively opposes an established opinion, policy, or institution) movement breaking off of the mainstream GOP which had basically just become worshipping Israel and lowering taxes. Trump is dissident. Nationalists are dissident. MAGA is dissident.

It's a rhetorical issue. No one should pride themselves on being a "dissident". It's also all relative in that MAGA owns the white house and the GOP, at what point are they not dissident? This could've been the case maybe in 2016-2020, but the old GOP is being actively phased out, or they are exiting themselves as seen with McCain and Cheney's daughters. Romney is retiring as well.

It feels unreal that we're almost a decade away when Trump first appeared at the first 2016 Republican primary debate in August 2015. Prior to it, the media just assumed Trump was up there as a novelity candidate that would leave within months, but you knew he was the real deal when the moment the debate started that Megyn Kelly went directly after him with a question on his treatment towards women.

Not necessarily. There was always rifts in the conservative base since the era of Barry Goldwater in the 1964 election. Ronald Reagan was an outlier who went against the establishment in 1980 primary, but chose HW Bush as his VP once chosen to keep the GOP cooperative. Ross Perot was an upset candidate and a proto-Trump in 92's election since he directly challenged HW's unfulfilled promises to disenfranchised voters who wanted a second Reagan. And the Tea Party Movement in 2007-2010 was a response to the dismal leadership of the Republican party after the Dubya era, especially the 2006 midterm and 2008 presidential election. Trump was a direct response to all of this, which is what the elites never truly understood on why people immediately flocked to Trump throughout 2015-2016.

I will never forget the night Trump won in 2016. It was my first time ever voting and I was so fucking shocked he won it was like a waking dream. I remember being on /pol/ and just literally cheering like a moron to my screen. The entire media was convinced he was going to lose and I was too. Almost no one thought he would win. It was magical.

Some people online are obsessed with keeping the dissident label and would prefer always being dissident/underground rather than having their ideas become mainstream and win in a significant way. Zero HP Lovecraft has talked about this, saying people should try imagining a world where rightwing culture is seen as the norm and supporting transgenderism or affirmative action is as damaging to someone's reputation as if they admitted to being a holocaust denier or flat earther. There is a quality issue though where once normies receive your talking points and insider terms they won't maintain the quality and logical coherency to how you came to those conclusions.
