Tabletop Roleplaying Games (D&D, Pathfinder, CoC, ETC.)

If you read the entire spoiler, you understand how both the audience and the skillset suitable to play those games is closer to that of collaborative writing or fanfic than AD&D and wargames.
I've been trying to find a way to express it, but I think you managed to articulate why I find Dungeon World so baffling as a game. I had a buddy who swore by it because he loved PbTA and I could not figure out why it felt so off when I played it with him. Like I've played other PbTA games. They aren't my first choice but they seemed at least fit for purpose. Reading that made me realize that the author was trying to fit his thumb in a pencil sharpener by turning the fantasy wargame into a theater kid simulator.

Its even worse than that.

Dungeon World is the equivalent of those "how to write a creative story by slavishly following this outline" books, only written by/for retards. Its pushed to be so formulatic down to dungeons having a room count and a "boss". But they were clearly trying to help theater kids feel better about their gay group j/o sesh by saying "no no its a real rpg not a narrative game because we have hitpoints"

Also, glad you use past tense because anyone who loves PbtA isn't a friend.

I tried to play a PbTA game once, Monster Hearts, and end with my character sexually assaulting other player character, against my will no less, because a had a critical failure. No burning willpower or other "in case your GM is a sickos" option. And its a online game, so punching the GM in the face is not a option too. Its pratically burned me out of playing online again, hell, even playing live.

And I used to play World of Darkness, but I think because I prefer Werewolf or mortal games I never go a weird and unconfortable Vampire game or something.

His mom already has him enrolled in an afterschool run club, and he just completed his first 5K, so that part is covered.
Running isn't a sport. Sports impress girls.

Play a D&D setting that features slaves in a post-apocalyptic hellscape: Instant ban from all RPG-related social media for problematic problematicisms.

Play a PbTA game that features mandatory rape: Le heckin' wholesome, wow much progressive, social justice achieved

You think you hate these scum for destroying your hobby enough. You're wrong. You can't possibly hate them too much.

Isn't that the one with rules for making your own custom race? I remember some dude at a gaming store got annoyed because he overheard my gaming group when I mentioned my character only has six strength and he snorted and started saying "Ummmm aktschually people should just use the create a race rules to avoid low stats."
Yes, they're called "lineages." Or some gay shit like that. It lets you pick ASI, languages and then I think a skill + dark vision or a bonus feat. It's generally worse than what you'd get from picking a race, but you can flavor appearance and whatnot however you want. I don't think anyone I know has ever used it.

TBCF, your DM just wanted some rape. You should have been able to burn the retarded PbtA social currency (threads or w/e) to mitigate the results. Another character interrupts you rape or your character manages to get their shit together.

But that sort of "your monstrous nature (that is: being a horny teen with whatever YA background trope the monster is supposed to be an allegory for) takes over and makes you do shit" is at the core part of Monster Hearts, and its supposed to be a little Late Night on the CW sleazy - i.e. there is some darker shit but its supposed to be all out of frame -
which unfortunately means that the guide rails for IDing and shutting down "Rape, Gay Rape, and Trannychasing" GMs are lacking.

Which all goes back to "It picks a theme, it nails that theme (while providing zero GM guidance) but I really, really question anyone who wants to play the system".

This. Because you see everyone is queer so exploring their sexuality so rape is expected. But its a big yikes if you draw the connection between queers creating something about only accepting their queerness in the terms of forced sexual assault and manipulation, and anything about gays needing grooming and rape to increase their numbers.

What if I'm exploring my sexuality, too? What if what gets me off is enslaving lesser races to work in my chaosium mines?

You aren't gay homosexual or trans and white-ish, so that means its rape.

Yeah, about that...
Does it have buck-breaking?

This would be somewhere we could really use those anal circumference mechanics from F.A.T.A.L.

Well, as the saying goes, there are no brakes on the rape train.

Random thing because I'm bored, what are some of the best resources you folks know of to create a TTRPG? Don't care which system too much, nor what setting, nor much of anything specific except for whatever has the best resources in your opinions. Not most, best. I'm curious to see if I can make something playable and-dare I say-fun within the shortest amount of time possible. Like one of those Game Jams you hear about occasionally. Fun is subjective obviously, so it would also help if one or more of you can list of your favorite shit so I can look at it for inspiration. I write constantly (good and horrific) but never involving systems before so this will be a good exercise of my Hubble Telescope mirror smooth brain.

Does this come from experience? I imagine this has happened a number of times.

The major benefit from custom lineage is getting a level 1 feat, something that only variant humans could do in the original rules. It's basically identical to variant human, except humans get two unique +1s instead of a single +2, and they have to have a skill proficiency instead of having the darkvision option. Considering how powerful feats can be, a free one from the start is always a benefit, and oftentimes it's more impactful than some racial feature that might only apply in niche situations. Throw in darkvision so you can tell your DM constantly that you have darkvision every time you're in a cave and a +2 to your primary stat, and it's not a bad option, though you'd need to have a reason for playing some race that doesn't have a stat block.

Only guy I know that used it basically just brought in some of the races from older DnD editions to 5e, like the Lupin. Said that 5e didn't have any race options that he liked, for whatever reason. Can't entirely disagree with him, honestly, can't even find a race that I actually like playing as myself.

What are you talking about when you say "resources to create a TTRPG"? You mean a rules system? Do you mean an existing system to create a setting with? An adventure? Because "creating a TTRPG" to me means the whole gestalt - rules and a setting and what you need to play like adversary stats, etc.

If you're looking for an abstract system that you can attach any setting you create to, there are things like Hero 6e at the more complex end down to just grabbing any simple systems that you can just file the numbers of and use for your own setting. In fact, Mothership is a simple Horror RPG system that can be adapted to all sorts of settings though it's meant for Sci-Fi like Alien. Might be what you're looking for. But I'm not quite clear what you're after. You want to write an adventure in a setting of your own? GURPS is the classic any-purpose, any-setting system. But there are others and I expect people will recommend some. Mothership is horror-focused and quite fast and simple though.
