Even after two years it's possible the police are still building a case against him. You can only be charged with a crime once so in a murder investigation cops like to take their time and collect every piece of evidence possible. Of course, this is Canada so the cops might just be retarded instead.

That's possible. I have a relative who was the victim of a crime (not as serious as murder) and the case has been active in the court for FIVE YEARS, and they still aren't even at trial. It's all hearings.

What I can’t work out in his case is a motive. Why on earth would he want to fry the potato? Maybe some hidden dark reason? I suppose just hating someone is enough?

Still this is crazy. Are the Canadian authorities this incompetent that they can’t bust this creep??

Considering the RCMP's record of unimaginable incompetence, I think he got away with it.

A lot of modern law enforcement is based entirely on surveillance systems in place in society (security cameras, dashboard cameras, tracking cell phone locations tower to tower) and computer data (internet search history, stuff found on hard drives, text message and DM logs) .

If they don't have those things they are SOL.
