It would make sense for this to be survivorship bias, right? After all, we’re only looking at the things that were preserved (meaning somebody considered them important) from the small percentage of the population that was actually literate. It’s likely that even this sample is relatively upper echelons of society.

Damn good comment, but I'd say not really. Sometimes, obviously, yes, like with the Founders of the US. However, even reading random letters from the late 1800s which happened to be preserved by chance, you're hit with how much more eloquent, rational, and thoughtful the people were. By this time, letter writing had expanded beyond the middle and professional classes and was common place, even in rural areas and among the working class. Since by historic standards this wasn't that long ago it's not too hard to find everyday letters in grandma's attic or wherever.

Edit: sounding like the old man I am, even in my lifetime I'm amazed how grug-brained, sex-addled, and irrational the modern 30 or 40 yo is. After 2020, many seem like they can't function, many are on the dole. It's not like people weren't fucking or getting fucked up way back when but the description of people as zombies today is pretty damn accurate.

To be fair, euros drive smaller cars because their infrastructure can't handle US trucks. I'm sure affordability isn't the real issue
this is wrong
there's SUVs and big cars in europe too, they work perfectly fine on the roads here. they're just a lot less common because a lot fewer people can afford them due to the myriad of taxes and fees involved
>petrol tax
>renewable energy tax (basically a second petrol tax on top of the regular shit)
>vehicle tax (larger for bigger vehicles)
>air pollution tax (larger for bigger vehicles)

Still odd how SJWs don't REE at Obama for deporting millions of illegal immigrants.
Have you ever watched an old interview with or media report about Obama from when he was president?

I've seen harder-hitting questions on Mr. Rogers Neighborhood, they did everything short of dropping to their knees and sucking his balls (and they still do to this day). People still gaslight themselves into thinking he was a good president and even had the fucking gall to claim he had a "scandal-free presidency", all because the bought-and-paid-for shill media never questioned him and always tried to present him as positively as possible.

Why? Because he's black-passing. It starts and ends there, I'm afraid.

In addition to that, a shitload of people in the political sphere nowadays essentially grew up or became politically aware under Obama, so the shallow media perception of him is what sticks in their minds even now. Like sure, Bush was president when they were like... 6, but Obama was essentially a superstar when they started paying attention to the TV beyond just cartoons.

I remember JibJab, a popular old (and I think defunct) political satire music site straight up depicting Obama as a literal superhero when all of their other political figure depictions were simply poking fun at them and portraying them as silly. That was the joke, everyone deified the guy and acted like he could do nothing wrong. That was the vibe everywhere, even overseas. "Obama is amazing. Obama is the best president ever. Obama should be on Rushmore! Obama is SAVING THE WORLD!" and he hadn't even fucking done anything yet.

The only people willing to openly shit on Obama were mfs like Alex Jones and Rush Limbaugh lmao.

Remember, even the largest SUV is much smaller than buses and commercial vehicles.

Didn't some claim that people against Obama were "racist", in a foreshadowing of Current Year politics?
"Some"

That was the go-to for most, actually. Obama was seen as some kind of symbol of the world healing and racial divides being mended (lol), so calling his critics and detractors racists was always the knee-jerk reaction.

"Whaaaaat?! He's the super-amazing bestest president ever and he's black and everyone loves him, only EVIL people wouldn't like him! You must be evil!"

A Senator posted a cartoon comparing Trump's parade and the "No Kings" protestors to Tiananmen Square and Tank Man:

Preposterous. The parade was just a historical display showing the evolution of the army and appreciation for our servicemen. Of course, leftists always wish to distort, defund, and discredit history, so I’m not shocked something this disingenuous was printed.

Quoting the screeching gargoyle in the video: "to all the 1%-ers who voted for Trump *gasp* you're going to have to do your own dishes. you're going to have to clean your own house. You're going to have to mow your own lawn. These people are important!"
Jesus tap-dancing Christ, that's the most transparent argument for slavery I've ever seen. How dumb can you be, attempting to appeal to the top 1% of the country, while begging to have your slaves back.

This dumb old bitch should be deported just so she can see what it's like living somewhere else. The average American does their own dishes. The average American cleans their own house. And believe it or not you dumb old Crow the average American mows their own lawn and even the ones who don't normally pay someone random America kids 20 bucks to do it. Americans don't normally hire illegal labor (knowingly) to perform day to day housekeeping, they do it all the selves. These people are so disconnected from reality that you cannot convince me that they aren't retarded from eating lead paint and slurping down glue.
